A Clucking Good Time

We all had a great time ; especially our granddaughters. James and Marty are excellent hosts. They took the time introduce all the animals to our granddaughters including the goats, chickens, turkey, rabbits and peacocks. The girls got to hold and feed a baby peacock. The accommodations were perfect for us. Thanks for the goat milk for Susan’s coffee. We highly recommend staying at the Byrd’s Nest.

We’ll be back again

This was actually our second time staying here. It’s such an amazing place to stay and the hosts are so kind and helpful. There are so many animals you have access to for the kiddos and adults who also like holding baby goats in the spring. The property and house are beautiful and well maintained. I highly recommend this place, especially for families.

Best Birthday Present!

We stayed here for a trail ride in Shiner and it was my daughters 9th bday that weekend also. We are a animal loving family, and she especially loves chickens so when I found this place, it was absolutely perfect... They had 3 friendly dogs to greet us and hang out with us on the front porch, chickens, turkeys, a pig, goats, and bunnies, to make for such a wonderful experience! Thank yall for the best birthday present we could give our daughter and for taking the time to make her a bday cake and decorations!

Great Stay

Stayed here before my wedding. Plenty of space and room for 5 girls. The outdoor shower was such a fun experience. It was perfect for a short stay and would be perfect for a long stay.

Will be back again!!

I was only able to stay one of my two nights but the experience was awesome! Marty and James are SO friendly and hospitable. All the reviews and pics are accurate but can’t do justice to the real thing. The Chick-Inn Coop was unbelievable. So perfectly decorated and all the amenities you could want. Pictures don’t do justice. The bed, as previously reviewed, was SO comfortable - I slept long and hard. The farm menagerie was exactly what I needed. I loved hearing all the farm sounds. Watching the goat milking while holding baby goat Buck Owen was like heaven. I can’t wait to come back and stay longer.

The Host James & Marty were there to answer any questions we had, along with they were GREAT host, that made you feel welcome from the start. It was close enough to the town of Shiner, just a small jump and you could be in Hallettsville, Moulton, or Sheridan. The bed was the most COMFORTABLE bed I have EVER slept in, that was not my home bed. We even asked what the name of them mattresses were, slept a few hours past my normal wake up time, due to that. The animals are a nice pleasant get away from the hustle & bustle of the city. Peacocks, Chickens, Roosters, Guineas, Goats, Turkeys, Friendly & Loving Dogs, just to name a few, The inside of the "Chicken-Inn Coop" is VERY warm & Cozy, especially if you like the Farmhouse style. The outdoor shower is awesome. I personally did not take ONE shower inside, I enjoyed the outside shower so much, it is directly outside the side door (very Private) of the Chicken Coop. They have two places in which to stay on this property, SO - if the Chicken-Inn Coop is not available, the Byrd's Farmhouse just might be. Either one of them, you can't go wrong. One adder, it was really NICE to hear the Rooster Crowing, the Chickens Cackling, along with the Turkeys Talking & the other animals making farm noises. If you have Younger Kiddos, Grandkids, or You and Your Spouse want "A NICE, NICE, NICE Peaceful Get-Away". This is YOUR PLACE. Book now, before its Going, Going, GONE !!! Quick trip, Lots of relaxation

Had a party in Shiner on Sunday, so drove down the night before to soak up some relaxation time at this beautiful farm. We just love it here and always have the best time, from visiting with the sweet hosts to hanging out with the farm animals. Always a fun adventure!

Becoming an annual trip

This place has it all! We have stayed here 2 times and are definitely planning on making it an annual event. My 10 year old daughter absolutely loves staying here and getting to play with all the animals. You MUST use the outdoor shower. Nothing like showering under the big blue Texas sky. Marty & James are amazing hosts and are so accommodating. Truly awesome people!!

Nothing Compares! Best Experience Ever!

I recommend this property for everyone for a variety of reasons: Families—great outdoors for children to explore. Mine couldn’t get enough of the goats, dogs, and even the catfish had them mesmerized. So much wide open, sunshine fun. The property has enough beds and room to spread out so it never feels like you’re on top of each other. Couples—quiet walks and sunsets, peace and solitude, coffee together as you watch the chickens or stare off into the beautiful scenery. Also, and I cannot emphasize this enough: OUTDOOR SHOWER. You arrive thinking, “Eh, yeah, sure, try anything once.” After the first shower, you try to figure out how to work in three showers a day and filter all future VRBO’s by “outdoor shower.” Friends weekend—if I lived closer, I would book a weekend away with my girlfriends. Just a fun getaway with activities and a variety of ways to connect. Shiner and the surrounding towns have fun things to explore. The Byrds are beyond amazing hosts. I’ve never stayed somewhere before where the hosts were as kind and considerate as the entire Byrd family.

What a special treat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at James and Marty’s farm! Although we arrived late afternoon and it had rained all day, James was so kind and greeted us upon arrival. We also got to meet Marty, they showed us all their beautiful animals! Our 3.5 year old HAD A BLAST, he thrived in that environment. They are warm hearted-good people. Marty ALSO had homemade cupcakes for us at the chicken-inn coop to celebrate my birthday! Thank you so much for letting us enjoy!

Outstanding!

Just perfect for kids! The house is exactly as advertised as well. Very clean with a beautiful kitchen. It’s great to sit out on the porch in the morning drinking coffee with the sounds of the farm all around, and a couple friendly farm dogs to keep you company. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly as well. I highly recommend staying here with the kiddos.

My kids were so excited to see all of the animals everyday! The hay bales were great for them to get some energy out. Everything is provided, and the atmosphere is definitely as described. So peaceful!

Lovely!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chick-Inn Coop! James and Marty are so friendly and fun to chat with. They made us feel welcome and their property is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed and more (that’s an understatement!) We didn’t want to leave! The animals are so cute and entertaining to watch. It was fun waking up to the rooster crowing! The open skies are beautiful! We look forward to visiting again before the end of the year. They also have an inviting little shop you can visit…I loved the dolls and children’s items. I could go on and on…definitely book a stay here! You’ll enjoy it immensely!

Incredible Attention To Detail

I was really impressed with the owners' attention to detail. It's the cute design and setup of the property and it's how every question seemed to be answered without me having to ask (they make good use of helpful signs in the house). We loved being around the animals too. There's so many of them. The haystacks are fun to play on too. Great family location.

Perfect Getaway!!

A perfect getaway for people nearby Houston, Katy, San Antonio. Clean property with lots of animals and beautiful landscape. I spent couple of nights with my family and it was fantastic. James and Marty are perfect hosts and in fact their other family members also made sure that our stay is great. My 4yr old son had lots of fun playing with animals, feeding them, picking eggs, bonfire and marshmallows roasting. James took us on ride around his property and my son enjoyed that experience. Overall experience exceeds the value of money. Perfect family getaway from city’s busy life!!

Wonderful as always!

Brought my son, husband, and best friend from out of town for a weekend getaway and the Shiner Memorial Day picnic. Was definitely the reset we all needed. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the animals and the hosts. Every inch of this place is just wonderful.
