“Air conditioning was not working. But luckily it cooled down enough at night to make it bearable. The room and the balcony were great as was the staff. ”

“This is my go-to hotel whenever I visit Detroit. I always enjoy my stay because the staff is friendly, professional, and very helpful. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. My only minor complaint is that housekeeping could be a bit more thorough with wiping down surfaces at times. Overall, it’s a great hotel, and I would definitely stay here again.”

“The front desk staff were fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about them. The bar/in hotel restaurant however might have been the worst service I’ve ever had. It took over 20 minutes to get a simple drink, and another 40 minutes to get our food, which was wrong/not what we ordered. The server was very polite (I don’t recall her name), but the wait times and lack of attention to detail was abysmal. The hotel and stay were wonderful, but I would never eat or get a drink there if I come back”

This despite website promises of handicap accessibility. “My favorite Detroit hotel”

“The pool was dirty, the shower water was cold, the shower & jet tub had strands of hair in it. The floors were unclean, the ice machine was broken. The WiFi SUCKED A & didn’t work at all had to use my hotspot. The staff barely wanted to do their jobs it took 4 hrs & 3 calls down to the front desk for me to finally receive towels for my room. I asked housekeeping to clean out my tub while I went on a food run I came back to the tub being the same way I left it. Overall terrible stay do not...

“This is the second year in a row I stayed here during this time. The rooms are so spacious, esp if you're traveling with friends or family. The bathroom is esp spacious & the lighting in the bathroom 10/10!! I need this lighting at home! “I did not find the Atheneum to be very well maintained nor clean. Our room was pretty ick to be honest; hairs on the bathroom walls, dust and gunk on all the tile ledges etc. The room decor is quite baffling…. Tons of random ledges, glass bricks, massive pillars. The couch was stained and the room smelled like stale cigarettes. But the staff were very friendly and helpful!”

“The hostel is situated in a residential area. Parking is available on a residential street. The check-in process with Travis was easy. Minor issue when showing me to my private room as someone else had the same first name and accidentally showed me to that room first. But was quickly corrected. The room itself was functional. The bed was firm. The shared bathrooms was clean, but showing its age with various broken tiles. I was only staying one night in Detroit and this is definitely an option...
