We spent a very enjoyable week in this villa at the end of July (2016). It was just what we wanted.
The villa is set in its own mature gardens in a quite up-market part of the town. The back of the villa has three large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a big hallway, all air-conditioned. The front, overlooking the sea, has a huge sitting room and well-equipped kitchen. There is a large terrace outside (with comfortable sofas and chairs and a big table for lunch), which is entirely shady except in the early morning and a sunny lower terrace. There is an internal courtyard with various large plants and also another semi-indoors area with a barbecue sink, and a small table to sit at, etc. The front of the villa is not air-conditioned, but most of the time there was a nice breeze coming from the sea. All the rooms have very high ceilings. The villa is beautifully furnished - everywhere you look there are lovely objects. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, with a nice informal area to eat. Pots of basil and mint were a very nice touch, as were the ubiquitous pots of beautiful succulents.
A path leads down the sea: perhaps 30 metres to the back gate of the villa, then another 30 metres to a really lovely little bay. The coast is all rocky here (I much prefer that to sand, but you have to wear shoes until you get into the water). The swimming and snorkelling is very good. There are almost no flies, but you have to be careful of mosquitos at dusk.
Fontane Bianche is a popular (with Italians - we encountered few foreigners) beach resort and the main sandy beach (about a kilometre along the coast) is crowded. There are a couple of small supermarkets and a fruit/vegetable market about 5 minutes' drive from the villa - easily walkable, though it is not an attractive walk by the road in the heat. There is a very large supermarket complex within 15 minutes drive, and you can go to the market in Ortigia (Syracuse). We didn't go to any local restaurants - eating in the villa was so nice. The baroque towns of Noto and Modica are within easy reach, and also the extraordinary gorges of Cassibile and Cava di Ispica; and much more, of course.
Vincenza, who owns the villa, was very helpful, coming by car to rescue us when we couldn't find the villa on arrival (I forgot to print out the map).
She speaks English. We also met her cousin who (I think) owns the next-door villa (also very nice - looks as if it sleeps 8) whose English is fluent and idiomatic.
