Spend the day discovering the university town of Aberystwyth (8 miles): peruse the colourful shops, explore the castle, or take a trip on the narrow-gauge railway. Alternatively, visit the historic town of Machynlleth, 11.5 miles away, renowned for its weekly street market where you can pick up some tasty local produce.
