We were delighted by the availability of the staff... we arrived early and it was no problem to check in and leave our luggage... we returned later to a street level suite that was immaculate and large and consisted of a kitchen, bedroom, sitting room and a brand new white marble bathroom... which made us believe we were in a private apartment, rather than a hotel... the staff was helpful in having us reach a restaurant of our liking (we are foodies, but will still listen to the locals carefully for any novelty, and they were right on target)... ..breakfasts were excellent, at least for us, who do not consume large ones.... crispy croissants, decent jams and true espresso, done with a lavazza machine, which alone made breakfast for us......and just outside the hotel, t dusk, there was a little bar that made spritzers (prosecco and aperol, an italian bitter) to die for.. a perfect light cocktail to savor with the dying sun framing the canal that runs there (cannaregio) sorrounded by the locals, sitting at the same tables...meetings friends before dinner at home or elsewhere.... the ratio local to tourist was probably 10:1 and we suddenly felt venice had swallowed us....
