DETAILS: Tucked on lush wooded grounds, Big Sky Lookout is a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom property with a Main House and Carriage House that collectively sleep 8. Located 9 miles from historic Whitefish and 25 minutes from Whitefish Mountain Resort, guests enjoy secluded mountain living and awe-inspiring views—with easy access to modern convenience and world-class skiing and snowboarding. Imagine starting each morning enjoying coffee on the wraparound balcony or watching the forest awaken from the built-in lookout spot.

An A-frame wall of windows, soaring wood-beamed ceilings, and a stove-style fireplace all converge to create an epic mountain retreat on the second level of the 3-story Main House. Relax in the inviting living area, featuring a TV and comfy queen sleeper sofa to admire the breathtaking views. The kitchen is a few steps away, with high-end appliances and spacious countertops beside a quaint 4-seat dining table. Head outside to the expansive deck to grill or dine alfresco at the 6-person table, while enjoying the unbroken view of the treetops and ridgeline. At sunset, wander down to the built-in lookout spot on the hillside. When it’s time to retire for the evening, guests will find 1 beautiful guest bedroom with a queen bed and private bathroom on this floor.

Nestled downstairs is a cozy sitting area with a twin sleeper chair alongside a gorgeous guest bedroom with a queen bed, private bathroom, and a deck with a 2-seat bistro set. For extended stays, there’s a stacked washer and dryer.

The exposed loft upstairs boasts a queen bed, private bathroom, and a bird's-eye view of the woodland.

My family and I traveled here to have a week getaway together. The views from the cabin were incredible!! Truly breathtaking! There was plenty of space and everyone had their own area. Would love to come back!

My wife and I stayed for 10 days and were very happy. The house is a short 15 minute drive to downtown Whitefish and is located on top of a hill with amazing views of the mountain ranges. The house is a clastic western Montana decor with plenty of big windows overlooking the mountains. The property was very clean and the kitchen was fully appointed with all the utensils we needed. The beds were comfortable with plenty of nice pillows and the bathrooms were updated and had nice showers. Every morning we were visited by the local deer walking around the property. When we stayed, they were experiencing a heat wave with temperatures close to 100°. The first floor stayed nice and cool, but the second level was a little warm in the afternoon, even with the air conditioner. It cooled down at night, and I wouldn’t expect this proud to be a problem, except during a heat wave.

Incredibly breathtaking views, peaceful, and tranquil. The layout was perfect for a family of four. The house had everything that we needed. The cabin is very close to restaurants and shops in the quaint town of Whitefish. Glacier National Park is about a 40 minute drive. We would stay here again.

This home is stunning from the secluded drive up into the hills to the gorgeous 180 degree view of the mountains. The interior is charming and has everything you need to feel welcome and at home. It is an easy 15 mins to town, and about an hour to west park entrance. I recommend a sport vehicle for the non-paved ascent to the house and if you plan to go to Polebridge/Bowman outside the park. Also, bring an eye mask for sleeping during summer as it is light outside well past 10pm and no shades in either bedroom. Our stay was lovely with deer walking right outside the house! We are definitely rebooking soon!

We stay in NW Montana twice a year or so and this is by far the best place we've ever stayed. The main cabin was immaculate with brilliant views set in a tranquil overlook among the trees. The small adjoining cabin was equally superb and well-equipped; our daughter made this space her personal hideaway and loved it. Our hosts were incredibly helpful and we loved it so much we are already making plans for a further booking next year. Please don't tell anyone else how great this place is. We'd like to keep this all to ourselves! Ha!

What can we say? This is an absolutely wonderful property. The mountain views are amazing in a quiet neighborhood that is still just a short drive to Whitefish. We made the easy drives to Glacier NP and Flathead Lake multiple times. We had a hot water issue in the smaller house that the property managers quickly and easily fixed. My only disappointment was that this newly renovated property did not have a microwave oven in either house. I found this surprising for such a high end place and can't say I have ever encountered this missing in a rental home. Hopefully it will soon be added to each kitchen. Other than that I can't say enough about this property. Montana is a place to come back to and I wouldn't think twice about staying here again!
