L'avamposto nelle montagne innevate

L'Avamposto è una proprietà di 900 acri di bosco prevalentemente alpino che supporta un'abbondante popolazione di animali selvatici autoctoni tra cui canguri, wallaby, vombati, ornitorinco, echidna e una moltitudine di uccelli. La Yaouk Valley è unica in Australia ed è delimitata da tre parchi nazionali; il parco nazionale di Kosciuszko, il parco nazionale di Namadgi e la riserva naturale di Yaouk.

Situato nella campagna alpina sulle rive del fiume Upper Murrumbidgee, ci troviamo su uno dei migliori fiumi per la pesca a mosca dell'Australia e sede di selvagge trote brune e arcobaleno. A causa delle sue qualità uniche di pesca a mosca, il fiume è stato selezionato per la competizione nei campionati mondiali di pesca a mosca del 1999 e nel 2008 da Fly Fish Australia per i suoi campionati nazionali. Siamo anche un sito per i Campionati nazionali di pesca a mosca 2015.

Siamo situati a 1,5 ore in auto a sud di Canberra su una strada panoramica parzialmente non chiusa attraverso il Parco Nazionale del Namadgi. Le montagne ci circondano e la zona è famosa per la pesca a mosca, l'escursionismo, l'equitazione e lo sci sulla neve.

Il villaggio più vicino è Adaminaby, che è un panoramico venticinque minuti di auto.

- La sistemazione massima è per otto persone.

Pesca a mosca, considerata acqua a nastro blu da pescatori esperti. Goditi una varietà di passeggiate da facili a impegnative su percorsi pedonali designati all'interno della proprietà. Divertiti a individuare gli abbondanti animali nativi: - ornitorinco, canguri, wallaby, echidna, wombat, opossum e molti uccelli, rosellas, anatre selvatiche, aquile coda di cuneo, falchi, aironi, fringuelli e rondini tra di loro. Gioca a tennis o nuota nella piscina di Platypus. C'è sempre qualcosa da fare o da vedere - o semplicemente rilassarsi.

Le Snowy Mountains offrono una varietà di attività per i non pescatori o per quei pescatori che si riposano. Dai rigori dell'equitazione alle catene fino al relax di un libro accanto al fiume mormorio, puoi prenderlo tutto al tuo ritmo. Fallo senza lasciare la nostra valle o se ti senti avventuroso, puoi sfruttare al massimo i vicini parchi e attrazioni nazionali.

Estate
Pesca a mosca, passeggiate e trekking, mountain bike, equitazione, natura. Nuotare nella piscina olimpionica Platypus Pool con la sua Mermaid Rock, è un'esperienza da non perdere.

Inverno
Riceviamo frequenti nevicate e le giornate sono piene di passeggiate tonificanti e godiamo di tè e focaccine intorno a un fuoco caldo e accogliente. Mt Selwyn è il nostro campo da sci più vicino e 45 minuti di auto. È la più settentrionale delle stazioni sciistiche dell'Australia con un'altitudine di base di 1.492 metri e un'altitudine massima di 1.614 metri. Potrebbe sembrare alto ma in realtà è più basso di Yaouk Peak (1.784 metri), che è adiacente a The Outpost (vedi Walks).

My partner and I stayed over the past weekend and had the most amazing time. The cottage is perfect - so much room & the fire was amazing. We saw platypus, wombats & kangaroos, and played tennis by the lake. The outpost is a short drive from Mount Selwyn where we had so much fun in the snow. Both owners and caretakers were lovely and super accommodating. Can’t wait to come back!

We booked a short stay for our family and ended up with our extended family staying. The property is in a lovely location with lots of things to do. We went on daily walks and played outside with the children. At night we had a campfire. The chickens had fresh eggs for us and one of the sheep had a lamb the day we arrived. Our hosts were very friendly and looked after us really well. We had a very stay.

Stayed here to go skiing. While it was a good hour drive while the snow was around, the quality, uniqueness and cosiness of the property made it well worth the drive. Be aware there is no town shop etc, so come prepared regarding food etc

I spent a long weekend with my two boys (3 & 10) at the property and we absolutely loved it! The Outpost is nice and secluded in the bush and has the river as company. The hosts and caretakers were all really lovely and super helpful. The cottage was also really comfortable and toasty warm with the fire. The gardens are really spacious with plenty of room for the youngsters to explore and run around. Looking forward to another visit in the future! A few things to note: The drive from Canberra through Namadgi took us 2 hours. (The road was ok and I'm a competent driver on dirt) The cottage is set back from the river and sits behind the main house which overlooks it.

Cottage was kept very clean. All of the kitchen requirements were there. The coffee machine was really good. BBQ was working well and cooked beautiful steaks. There is only the Fireplace for heating. No central heating or electric heaters. The beds are heated. Privacy: We knew there were only the 2 caretakerswho were nice, respectful and kept their distance (living in the "Shed") but on the second day we noticed a couple just came in through the gates with their dog and start playing tennis at the court. It would've been good to know this before arriving here. The experience overall was great.

We stayed here back in winter 2019 and said we would be back, unfortunately COVID kept us away in 2020 and 2021. We finally made it back for Autumn 2022! Even though the kids are teenagers now, they still had a blast exploring the property and even had a go at tennis. Hubby and I just sat back and relaxed.

A beautiful get-away and so well looked after. The property managers, Wayne and Donna were really welcoming and even met us on the road and guided us up to the property (it had been raining a lot and so they brought us in a different way so we wouldn't get bogged). We saw platypus, wombats, kangaroos and wallabies galore. The cottage was really tidy and had everything we needed. Loved it and will defintely be coming back again. Thank you.

We had a very happy holiday. We spotted eagles, wombat, lots of wallabies, and even a platypus. The host texted us the night before with an update on a local road which we were considering taking - very helpful. Hope to come again.

What a magical location. So relaxing, sitting by the river, reading a book, and listening to the birds. The kids loved trying to catch fish, bush walking, feeding the horses and sheep, playing tennis and the canoe was a big hit! The resident wallaby's and kangaroos were all over the property and we loved seeing them close to the cabin on dusk. The cabin was very cosy with an indoor fireplace and warm beds which were super comfy! We will be back!!..

Thanks to Ken & Judy and Wayne & Donna for a beautifully appointed, very comfortable cottage. The grounds were stunning, the walks suberb and, not sure if this was your doing, the weather perfect. Complementary wine and Easter eggs were a nice touch and delicious too. Watching kangaroos eating apples, platypus, wombats, a couple of friendly chooks and the cutest sheep ever climb the trees to eat the quinces made for a great weekend.

Beautiful property on the river, the grounds are well kept and the cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The caretakers Wayne and Donna were lovely and very helpful. Loved our fresh eggs from the friendly chickens as well. The hardest part was having to leave.

The Outpost is even more beautiful than the already gorgeous photos on the website showed. The immaculate garden with a carpet of green lawn, a walled vegetable and berry garden, groves of mature shady trees and quiet bench seats placed in exactly the right position to capture views of the mighty Murrumbidgee River all came as a huge and welcome surprise. The most beautiful stretch of river to swim in. There was so much to do ( or not do!). It was immediate relaxation and comfort. The whole experience was greatly supported by Wayne and Donna - nothing was too much trouble and they were so kind and knowledgeable. Our teenage children loved the whole experience as did we. We have already booked our return visit. Thank you Ken and Judy for creating and sharing such a beautiful place.

This 800-acre property is a superb place to holiday. The cottage has everything that you need: clean, comfortable and well-appointed. You are surrounded by a beautiful garden that overlooks the river with lots of wildlife and birds. The property is superbly managed by Wayne and Donna, who took the time to show us around and point out places of interest to us. The walking trails on the property are clearly marked and carefully maintained, takiing you through magnificent country and along the river. Highly recommended.
