“Incredible. Setsuko-san and the rest of the staff were amazing. The ryokan is beautiful and peaceful. Meals were among the best I’ve ever had, and they were so accommodating with my picky kids. The onsen are wonderful. Seriously, we can’t wait to come back.”

“My wife and I splurged for a single night at Tsubaki Ryoukan during our Japan holiday, and we loved it. We took a taxi from Atami which cost us around $50aud, but there are buses that go up to the hotel as well. The building and it's rooms are very traditional, and upon arriving we were given some freshly brewed matcha while watching the koi swim around the pond in the garden atrium.
Our room overlooked a small garden too, which was lit up beautifully at night. Unfortunately we were a little...

“We Americans stayed here for 2 nights. Highly recommended. Great cultural experience for those looking for an authentic ryokan in an older style building with communal bathing facilities. Japanese breakfast was really fun but I had little idea what I was eating. Go with an open mind! I was glad there were a couple of very helpful staff who spoke some English. Otherwise, it looked like all local Japanese guests there!”

“We stayed here with elderly parents. It’s very close from the station and easy to find. The man (sorry I didn’t get his name) at check-in was extremely thorough in explaining everything and friendly yet professional.
We had a private bath in our room, but mainly visited the main baths. I didn’t realize they had this “Radon onsen” which had many health benefits. The dinner was HUGE and amazing. The breakfast was just was good. The service was great, too. The coffee in the lobby was also great....
