“BEST WESTERN HOTEL PICCADILLY a Roma”
“excellent hotel to use as a base for visiting Rome”
This hotel is in easy traveling distance from all the main attractions but at a fraction of the cost of a city centre hotel. We walked into the centre and back one night and used the metro the next night. The hotel was clean and well presented and the breakfast was excellent. Most hotels only provide continental breakfast but this hotel served scrambled egg and Bacon, which was needed for a long day sight seeing! Monday to Friday the hotel has happy hour 7pm - 10pm with a free buffet, well worth a visit! I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone on a city break.
“A modest hotel near the main attractions.”
We chose this hotel for it's location, and because we find that this brand (BW) is a good place to stay in Europe from our years of experience. This hotel proved to us to be no different. The bathroom was typical European size, and the bed was typical European firmness, but we had no major issues with the hotel. The breakfast was good and nutritious, the room was clean. It was convienent to the Rome Metro and only a 20-30 minute walk to the Coliseum. The only minor issue was the street noise, but I use earplugs, and it certainly didn't keep my spouse awake. The neighborhood isn't the best, but it is safe and the restaurants in the area are very good to eat at.
“Thank you Monica!”
Being first timers in Rome we didn't know what to expect. With the help of Monica and her genuine helpfulness, she made the transition easy. With her help planned tours, arranged taxis and made two clumsy new comers feel welcome. Rome is a busy crazy city with so much to offer. We had 3 nights here but you could easily do a week or longer. Breakfast was excellent and the free cappucino machine in the lobby was a bonus. On our departure, would reccomend taking a taxi, more expensive but much more simple. The weather in september was perfect and the handful of candy on our departure from Monica made us feel welcome and sorry to go.
“good hotel /safe location”
this is a good hotel in Rome, located within walking distance of a lot of Rome's famous sites(if you like to walk).safe neighborhood, the A metro line is 1/2 mile away, the bus stop #87 to central Rome is across from the hotel. One of the front desk clerks was not friendly at all,the rest were friendly, good breakfast. The airconditioning unit was very weak.We stayed on the 6th floor good location!
“Clean and comfortable”
Very helpful, from reception to breakfast staff. Were worried about the hotel after seeing reviews, but they were almost all unfounded. We asked for a quiet room at the back because reviews had said the front rooms were noisy as on the main road. However the front rooms were new and refurbished but the quieter rooms at the back were older. So we went with the newer rooms and weren't disappointed. Nicely decorated and clean enough. The air con didn't seem great to begin with but we left it on and by the second day the room was a nice temp. With the shutters down, the room was pitch black and kept a lot of the road noise out. Reviews had said breakfast was good, although we weren't impressed. Maybe because we are not so used to European standards? It was basically continental, although they did have scrambled egg and bacon. So salty we couldn't eat it, but we found the food generally salty everywhere in Rome. Not a bad location, within walking distance to the metro and bus right outside. We even walked to Colosseum. Perfect transport links. Would stay again for price we paid.
“Comfortable, friendly staff, good breakfast”
Beds comfortable. Bathrooms ultra modern. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a great choice for a budget hotel. Within a 30 minute walk to the Collosium and a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro. Free coffee machine in reception was most welcome. Negatives: Not many restaurants nearby. Situated on a busy main road so noisy, even late at night. If you want tea/coffee making in your room you need to ask for it at reception. Would probably choose another hotel next time to be nearer to the tourist sights.
“nice location,nice rooms.”
I liked the location ,also there are nice shops around the hotel.Traffic noise at night is bit too much.
“Best Western Picadilly Hotel. We will be going back!”
There is always a little worry that you have chosen the wrong hotel or area when you read some of the reviews on these websites. i can only say that both me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed staying at the best western picadilly. the staff were friendly, helpful and conversant in english, our room was of reasonable size and very clean, the bathroom only had a shower but was very stylish. there was some traffic noise (3rd floor front) but this was easily ignored after a long day sightseeing and wasn't a problem. the nearest metro is just up the street, 5 mins walk. i recommend getting a "Roma Pass" which gets you 3 days free travel, free entry into 2 museums/attractions, reduced entry costs after that and a fast track entry into some sites.(colusseum). there are plenty of places to eat. opposite the hotel on the other side of the Piazza Tuscolo is a very nice Caffeteria good for coffees and pastries and there are two good restaurants on the Via Amiterno,(left out of the hotel entrance, 2 streets up). the italian people were all very polite and helpful when asked questions and english was spoken well at most sites. i would also recommend that you pre book a tour if going to the vatican, this will get you past the long queues and will give you the best descriptions and explanations in what is a massive museum. we used "Angel Tours", our guidehad a degree in roman history. he was very informative and interesting an also amusing and the experience was very enjoyable. hope this helps
