Dog Friendly Creekside Property close to Vallecito Lake minutes to Durango and so much adventure out the front door

This wonderful 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on 1 acre of land is located on Grimes Creek and is perfect for your family getaway. Additionally available is a separate one bedroom cottage on the property for larger gatherings, family reunions or multi-family vacations. On the main home, two spacious decks on the front and back give access to beautiful mountain views, morning and afternoon sun, occasional wildlife and ample opportunities to relax or dine outside. The property also has a rock firepit nestled in the trees perfect for evenings by the campfire and is situated a just few steps from the creek. Within the home, the spacious master bedroom is located downstairs with adjoining full bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen is also on the first floor and is open to the living/dining areas. The second floor has the remaining two bedrooms with the second full size bath. Wood burning stove and TV in living room. Washer/Dryer in laundry room. Note: the separate cottage is available only with home rental.
Located in Bayfield, this vacation home is in the mountains and on a river. Lake SImpatico Trailhead and Cliffs at Tamarron are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Vallecito Lake and Weminuche Wilderness.

Relaxing and quiet

My friend and I just wanted some downtime. The location was perfect. The cabin had everything we needed. The host was so helpful and friendly. We did go on the train and to the Durango Hot Springs. Well worth doing!

Christmas vacation

Had a wonderful stay! Property was nice, gas everything, very hot water, washer and dryer and dishwasher. The yard was nice to play in. It snowed and the roads were kept plowed. The pictures don't do the cabin justice. Would definitely stay again.

Yearly vacation

This was a wonderful cabin! Pictures don't do it justice. The only complaint would be the downstairs master bedroom bed is wobbly. Otherwise we absolutely loved it and will stay again in the future!

Review

The vacation rental was great, the only problem I had was the pictures show both cabins as if you were getting both rentals. I messaged VRBO asking them if the second one was included and the person who answered said no, but nothing was available. This made me think that the back cabin was rented to someone else. When we got their the host, who was a wonderfully nice man said the back cabin goes with the front but only if the person request the back and there are too many people. The info from the VRBO person was confusing.

Quiet quaint place

It was a great stay, the Ponderosa cabin is tucked away in a small community. Extremely quiet. Wildlife everywhere!! Rabbit, Deer, and the call of Elk from the mountainside.

Great spot for a relaxing week

Property clean but furniture and beds somewhat dated and worn. Nice fire pit and horseshoe pit. Very near great hikes. Water level very low so little chance for activities on Lake Vellicito. Beautiful setting

Family getaway to beautiful Colorado

The cabin was clean and there was plenty of room for 3 adults and two kids. Almost all of the comforts of home with the added benefit of the beautiful location. The kids enjoyed the creek in the backyard, the fire pit, swimming at the lake and a bike ride through the mountains. We would definitely stay again.

Very comfortable and relaxing week

Everything was great during our stay but was a little disappointed that the stove in the cottage does not work(we were told why on the next to last day). Also discovered the fan over the stove in the main house needs attention when we smelled an electrical burning odor. Still had a great time and it was a great value

Wonderful stay

The location and cabin were perfect for our stay. Everything we required was there, the cabin was completely ready for us when we go there down to having fans on in each room in case it was a bit warm outside. My family has been coming to Vallecito for many years, camping when we were young, to renting cabins as we grew older. We had a great time and found everything was within easy distance. We will definitely stay at this cabin again, as long as it is available!!
