Court "Desert". Ancient building with swimming pool

The palace was begun to be built at the end of the 1400s. It is a typical example of a country manor house of “Pianura Padana”, with a massive cube structure and perimeter walls that end in a “scarp”. Located 10 km from the wonderful city of Mantua, about 50 km from Verona, Lake Garda, Modena and Parma, it offers optimal conditions for a stay dedicated to culture, good food and relaxation in the Mantuan countryside.

The Palace is immersed in the Mantuan countryside in a context of great tranquility and not far from places of high cultural value (Mantua, Verona, Parma, Modena, Reggio Emilia), from Lake Garda, as well as from centers of interest for families such as Gardaland, the Caneva water park, the Sigurtà Garden, or the Mantova Outlet District for your shopping.
The construction of the Palazzo dates back to the end of the 1400s and its current composition dates back to the second decade of the 1700s, when Countess Afra Guerrini lowered the ceiling on the first floor to save space, adding wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and creating a large underneath, illuminating it with 15 elegant, baroque windows. What was previously indicated as "Palazzetto da parone" (feudal manor), is therefore reported in the Teresian land registry as a "holiday home”. That is justified by the spatial organization of the compositional elements both of the arquitecture and the garden with the orchard.
The plan is rectangular with the central hallway serving the four corner rooms, the usual form of fine rural architecture, which is repeated on the upper floor where you can have 4 large bedrooms, two double and two single.
An equipped kitchen, a large porch with adjacent barbecue and the swimming pool in the summer season can be the scene of a pleasant stay in the name of conviviality and tranquility. The toponym Corte Pagliare “Desert” is in fact found in a Habsburg cadastre: we like to think of the symbolism linked to the desert, a place of the spirit, in which isolation, contemplation, silence are preliminary conditions for personal regeneration.
