Montecristo Estates is one of the premier resorts in the Cabo San Lucas area, a Pueblo Bonito property that includes the Sunset Beach timeshares, the Pacifica Resort and four other estate developments wrapped around the Quivira Los Cabos Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Montecristo Estates is one of the premier resorts in the Cabo San Lucas area. It is part of a Pueblo Bonito property that includes the Sunset Beach timeshare resort, the Pacifica Resort, an adult-only resort on the beach, and four other estate developments wrapped around the Quivira Los Cabos Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course situated around the Baja lighthouse on the water. As a guest of Montecristo, you are entitled to use all of the resort facilities of this Pueblo Bonito property; restaurants, food court, pools, sports bar, spa facilities, golf course and clubhouse. The entire property is very secure with guarded, fenced gates at the main entrance and at the Montecristo entrance. This pristine community is beautifully groomed with blooming bougainvillea, palm trees, cactus gardens and other local foliage. There are over 10 miles of well-maintained sidewalks to walk on or ride a bike around the property.

I am one of the original fractional owners of this villa, Villa #55. I bought it before it had been built and selected the location for its view and for the time that we own it, January 2 to January 17 every year. My family has been staying in this unit since it was built and we have personally ensured it has been maintained in excellent order (I have my wife to thank for that!). Since we have stayed there we have had superb concierge service – Montecristo has an employee assigned to the villa during your stay to ensure everything is fine with your villa. The villa sits on a mountainside with an unrestricted view of the southwest tip of the Baja Peninsula. Villa 55 faces the sunset perfectly. The views you see in my pictures are guarantied. This is not the case with all Montecristo villas offered on Vrbo.

***The Government of the municipality of Los Cabos is implementing the Environmental Sanitation Tax. This is a new tax that will be dedicated to the betterment of the local community. The tax is $33.68 Mexican Pesos per room per night (~$2 USD depending on the exchange rate) regardless of the occupancy and will be charged at check-out on top of your paid rent. The new tax will support government investment on environmental infrastructure, sustainability practices, and safety and security, among other projects.***

Typical weather during the first half of January is sunny with very few clouds, 30% humidity and a high of 78 – 80 degrees F. It is perfect. The temperature is such that the patio is comfortably warm to the feet but never so hot that it is hot for your feet like it is during higher temp months in Cabo.

Nearby is a pristine beach with absolute security – no one but guests like yourself are allowed on it. We often take a few minutes to travel to the beach for sunset and many times are the only ones on the mile plus long beach. If you watch the movie “Troy” starring Brad Pitt, this beach was used in the movie as it’s main scene. It is not uncommon to see blue whales and stingrays jumping out of the water just as the sun sets.

Villa 55 sets two rows up the mountainside from the Montecristo Clubhouse where there is a nice fitness center, spa, bar and pool-side restaurant. It is far enough from the main road that you don’t hear cars go by (unlike villas close to the main road) and near enough where it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the fitness center at the Montecristo Clubhouse (some villas are 10 to 15 minute walk from the clubhouse with a steep walk back). The spa is a 5 star facility offering superb massages and facials. The Montecristo Clubhouse is also where the reception/concierge office is, where you will check-in when you arrive.

Villa 55 has 2,800 square feet with three big bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. On the upper level there is a dining room, a main living room with a large couch next to an electric fireplace and a large screen cable TV. The kitchen is large and can easily accommodate all of your meals if you choose not to eat out. We cook almost all of our meals in the kitchen. It is one of the few kitchens among the Cabo Lucas area resorts with a regular oven in it, a nice large stainless steel oven. Also featured is a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. See my pictures for details and actual appliances. Kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, plates, mixer (for your pool-side drinks) and toaster. We shop at the local supermarkets for food, La Comer being our favorite. There is also a Costco and Wal-Mart within a 15 minute drive. Groceries are over 50% cheaper than what they are in the U.S.

There is also a guest bathroom on the top floor. The master bedroom is also on the top floor and the other two bedrooms are on the lower level, both opening up to the pool area. Both levels have large patios with outdoor furniture. The top level also has a large BBQ and a Jacuzzi Hot Tub. There is an outdoor dining area next to the BBQ grill.

The lower level is where the heated infinity pool is (you can ask the concierge to adjust the temp as you desire) located along with more outdoor furniture. The lower level also has a bedroom with a King bed and another bedroom with two Queen beds. There is a second living room between the two bedrooms downstairs with another large screen TV and a workspace/desk, along with a hideaway couch that will sleep two, if needed. Every bedroom has a large screen cable TV.

Montecristo supplies all linens, hair dryer, soap, shampoo and conditioner for each bathroom. The beds have comfy pillow-top mattresses, fine Egyptian cotton linens. Two of the bedrooms have walk-in closets and the master bedroom has a Jacuzzi bathtub. Hangars supplied for each closet.

Also downstairs is a laundry room with a washer, dryer and iron/ironing board.

The villa comes with daily maid and full time concierge service. Resort staff service the hot tub and pool daily.

The villa sleeps 8 comfortably and can fit another 2 people on the hideaway couch.

The villa has a shaded parking spot and will accommodate another car parked on the street.

The villa is non-smoking. WiFi complimentary, which was upgraded recently and is fast speed.

Not provided in kitchen: salt/pepper, condiments, oils, foil, plastic wrap, coffee, sugar, etc.

DO YOU NEED TO CHECK-IN EARLY BEFORE 4 PM? You are welcome to head directly to the Montecristo Club reception desk at the time you arrive. You are allowed to use the facilities at the clubhouse while you wait. Montecristo reception will store your luggage and groceries until Villa# 55 is ready.

Rental cars (Avis) available on the property. Free transportation from the resort to all Sunset Beach/Quivara properties. Free bus to Pueblo Bonito properties in downtown Cabo San Lucas. Taxis are available to downtown Cabo (~ 10 to 15 min ride) and cost around $20 USD each way.
