Rustic Ramsay Retreat by Calgary Stampede/Inglewood/Elbow River w/ Parking

This stylishly newly renovated historic suite, built in 1915, offers a blend of rustic charm and modern luxury near the Calgary Stampede grounds. Amenities include 1G high-speed internet, streaming services, a fully equipped kitchen, queen bed, washer/dryer, and keyless entry. The decor features a blend of rustic and nature atmosphere. Located in the historic Ramsay neighborhood, it's close to local attractions and the Bow River pathway & Inglewood making it an ideal base for exploring Calgary.

The suite has been renovated to a more modern look and is fully furnished in a modern-day homage to the early 1900’s. Located on the 2nd level of the historic J. Nevler building in Ramsay and was constructed in 1915, it is an Edwardian Commercial style building. Jeremiah Nevler (the original owner), a Russian Jewish immigrant who lived in Calgary with his family. Nevler operated a grocery store in Bridgeland / Riverside before relocating his home and business to this address. He evidently left the City around 1923-24, and sold the building around 1928. Today it is named Hardware Block as it once held a hardware storefront but has been converted to living space.

The bedroom is very comfortable with a warm cozy duvet, a spring coiled foam queen bed mattress, high end bedding and pillow options for your comfort. There is a privacy curtain with a blackout curtain in the room. For additional comfort on request only we have a portable AC unit available in the summer and a small heater in the winter.

The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook an amazing meal. The kitchen also comes with a choice of coffee and tea.


The bathroom also comes with everything you would need and more! Did you forget to pack something? We have you covered with a care bag which includes toothpaste, lotions, shampoo, conditioners, body wash, feminine hygiene products etc.


The living room features a sofa bed that folds out into a queen sized bed that is suitable for smaller adults or for kids.


The Suite has laundry center within, located in the living room.

Let us know if you are travelling with an infant or small children. upon request we can accommodate with a pack and play that is safe for overnight sleeping.

There are several steps to the 2nd level after entering in the yellow side door, this suite is NOT suitable for people with mobility issues as you would have to walk up to the 2nd level.

The suite is in a historical building. Some noise transfer between suites is possible.

We keep our suite tidy and we also like to limit scents as possible. If you have any specific sensitivities or allergies please let us know in advance so we can determine if we can accommodate.

For coffee: We provide a tin coffee along with a coffee machine in the unit for your convenience. As part of our commitment to sustainable living, we've transitioned away from single-use cups. Instead, savor the rich aroma of ground coffee, provided for your convenience.

Our suite utilizes a noise and smoke monitoring device that monitors the level of noise, in addition to any unauthorized smoking or vaping.

*No smoking or vaping of any substances in suite and building. If smoking or vaping is detected there will be a $350 additional charge for cleaning.

*Possible unexpected noises and noise transfer due to age of the building and thin walls.

*Please take care of your own dishes prior to your checkout. Otherwise you will be charged for additional cleaning of $65.

For Pets, we charge $65 per pet per stay. Limited to two pets. No Cats. Dogs must be well behaved and trained.

There is a $300 penalty for unauthorized pets in the unit.

The location of this property was exactly what we were looking for as it was close to the Calgary Zoo. It had everything we needed for our family of 4 and our host was great at communicating. We would stay here again.

The stay was okay overall. The host was responsive but had difficulty understanding our requests. There was only one hand towel in the bathroom and no drying rack or dish cloth for the dishes, which meant we had to wash and dry everything after each meal (we were two people). Although the host eventually understood what we needed and said he would provide hand towels and dish cloths, we only received a rag after several follow-ups. He initially said they didn’t provide rags and later mentioned there were “scrubbies,” but our concern from the start was clearly about drying dishes.Coffee and tea were also missing despite being listed in the apartment description. There were only some leftover hazelnut bags, which isn’t ideal since hazelnut coffee isn’t for everyone. We only got the proper items after two days, even though we were staying just three. Additionally, a neighbor knocked on the wall three times and later came to our door at 10:45 p.m., asking us to be quiet because he had to wake up early. We were simply talking at a normal volume, with no music or TV on. I’m not sure how common this issue is, but it’s worth mentioning.

Great location!

My mom and I had a great stay. The pictures show the home and the price was comparable with the size and # rooms. I was within walking distant to the Stampede Stadium (20 min walk) and parking was never an issue outside the apartment in the evenings. My mom is 75 and she had a tough time navigating the steep steps to the apartment, so make sure you don't miss the step about the steps in the description. I had missed it. But she survived. lol. Great hosts too.

Ramsay Retreat

Nice apartment in a historic building, right in the Ramsay neighborhood of Calgary. Short walk to the Saddledome and plenty of restaurants to choose from.
