“Nice and quiet stay! Clean and safe. TV wasn’t working at first but they got it going for us. Thanks!”

“So unique as a wonderful hotel and a wonderful tribute to our country’s and local heritage with locomotives. Thoroughly appreciated both! So glad we made the reservation. We will be back when through La Plata.”

“Parking was right next to the building. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Pool was nice.”

“Didn't care for the breakfast. Didn't really like the coffee and some of it was cold. But the counters and the eating area was very clean.”

“Such a pretty lake and was able to see it from our back porch. The beds were comfy and the room was clean.”

“The place was dirty, old & room smelled musty. Things were broken, towels were the size of large hand towel. Toilet didn’t flush worth a crap. It was just very gross, I would not recommend staying there.”

“The first room we got had not been cleaned and appeared to have a guest inside it. So we went to the office. They immediately gave us another room. The room was clean. But old and the electrical outlets were not grounded. Good enough for one night passing thru. We had pets. I wouldn’t really recommend this place. Even if you’re cheap like me. Shower was ok. No coffee in the lobby. But the owner was friendly. I read other reviews and decided to take the chance. Skip this spot. Lots of long term...

“Great place to spend time with friends. The living room seating arrangement was perfect for catching up. Very clean and linens were nice. The only down side to the property was a lot of light from outside lights came in through doors and windows. So if you need a dark room for sleeping, bring eye masks! Mexican restaurant next door was very good.”

“Erica is a very good manager. There was a problem with the bed and she had it replaced. She is always helpful and easy to reach. We have stayed in the Blue Cottage four times now. It will always be our go-to place for future trips to Kirksville, MO”

“This guest house was such a cute and comfortable space for our visit to Kirksville. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were able to do a load of laundry which was great. It’s a very short walk to Truman’s campus and walkable to the square, but still felt very tucked away and private. The hosts were very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed!”

“Great place very quiet and secluded.”

“Great building for our family reunion. We had 5 families that ranged from 1 to over 70. Everyone had a great time. Plenty of space to play and to get away from family members. Plenty of outdoor games provided. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and utensils for all. Plenty of indoor seating. We didn’t need a TV but there is no TV. Wi-Fi worked great. Not too far from Kirksville to be able to visit the city swimming pool, Walmart, or any other quick food options. House was...

“Nice location. We were there for all the flea markets and country store shopping. House was cozy.”

“Clean house with character! Pictures. Don't quite do it justice. Very cute and comfy! Highly recommend!”

“Quiet and very well kept.”
