“The hotel is very good and should be excellent. Unfortunately, it is let down in one area, the restaurant. We had issues at breakfast on both mornings as did others seated around us. I would describe the breakfast as “chaos”. It is a shame because aside from that the hotel is very good. The check in staff were excellent and the spa is more than adequate.”

“Stunning building but the maintenance of it lets it down. The hostess at breakfast was very friendly and helpful, but the service itself was chaotic. They should be serving barista made drinks with breakfast rather than having queues at an instant machine. Some people were ordering from menus, others weren’t. The staff seemed very stressed. The room was basic but ok value for money. The spa treatment was the highlight”

“Reception staff on duty were very good when contacted direct either by phone or seen face to face, but the messaging facility via Expedia was useless. Visit was marred by the discovery of blood on a pillow, as I climbed into bed. Not what you expect after being charged circa £140 for a night stay with no 'add-ons'.”

“We enjoyed a four night midweek stay at this beautiful property. The decor is truly stunning throughout the hotel , the restaurant excellent and staff attentive and helpful. The grounds are extensive and beautiful and the hotel is situated in a very rural area with plenty of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance. The dark night skies make for excellent star gazing!”

“We only stayed for one night, but it was a great experience. The location was perfect for our needs, and having plenty of parking on-site made things very easy. Our room was standard, comfortable, and clean. The highlight was definitely the breakfast—a really lovely full English! Would happily stay again.”

“Awful. Aircon didn’t work and the window only opened a crack. Was reported but just got a stock response and no follow up. Beds were awful, sheets dirty, cleaners just basically half-straightened the sheets and stepped over the dirty towels leaving them. Furniture was broken, torn, cracked. No water pressure so a trickle of a shower, huddled behind a dirty shower curtain. An awful hotel.”
