Giving this an overall of 2/5 stars. The only thing saving it from 1/5 was the friendliness and hospitality of the staff.
I stayed for 4 nights during UMich commencement, since I booked late and everything else in A2 was $500/night minimum. I had low expectations, thinking you get what you pay for, but I woke up the last morning covered in bedbug bites. I think no matter how cheap an establishment is, the patrons should realistically be able to expect the room to be free of bug infestations.
The state of the room was pretty much as others had mentioned in their reviews. The floor certainly doesn't get mopped, maybe swept. I spilled a little bit of water on the floor accidentally so I wiped it up with a towel and it came up extremely dirty. Would advise against taking your shoes off.
The bedding was clean enough, so I wasn't concerned until I woke up with the bug bites.
The towels look sort of clean, but if you hold it up to the light you can clearly see darker patches from some stains that can't be washed out. Try not to think too hard about what those might be. I also had some suspect looking hairs intertwined with the towel fibers. Also try not to think too hard about those.
The main lobby has a water machine and tea/coffee, so that part is nice, and like I said, the staff were all extremely kind and helpful, so 5 stars for them, its just that the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired.
