“Fantastic hotel. However, be careful with Expedia. I thought i had a good deal but when i saw my bank account it was American dollars and not New Zealand dollars. I would never have spent that much money for one night in a hotel. I will never use Expedia again. I feel it is unethical. No other travel site does this, they always use the currency of the country you are in. It was a lovely holiday but i feel sick about the amount of money spent. I feel scammed.

“We had a great stay at The Observatory in Christchurch. It’s a beautiful hotel—formerly a university—and they’ve preserved the original aesthetic, which gives it a lot of character. The photos honestly don’t do it justice; it’s even more stunning in person.
The room and bathroom were very spacious, the bed was extremely comfortable, and everything was spotless. The location is also very convenient. Would definitely recommend staying here.”

“Tessa and Peter were wonderful. They picked us up from the airport after our very long overseas flights.
The accommodation was lovely and comfortable, especially the bed! 10/10 for comfort. The place was very clean, tidy and welcoming.
Would highly recommend.

“Our room staff were very good. Always made up the room to a nice standard, clean and tidy.
Our main gripe was the exorbitant room rates for a room that didn’t even supply a basic Sky connection but relied on you having an app to cover your in room viewing. Very high rate considering there were at least twenty motel units within 800 meters with vacancy’s. Will say the gardens and pool area were nicely kept.”
