“The Guinness Arms had character rooms and the hallway was just as nice. Our room had aircon and also a skylight which had retractable blinds if you wanted to look at the sky or not. Room was clean and cosy with coffee and tea facilities. A bottle of water was also supplied with a selection of biscuits. Iron and board in cupboard for those who want to sort the creases out. “Couldn't wish for a better welcome, hosts were exactly my cuppa - laid back and relaxed at all times. Looked after well before I even got to the site and enjoyed an unexpected upgrade. Very decent breakfast to set me up also. Hope to stay there again soon!”

“Arrived to find the place locked up and had to make a phone call for someone to come to the pub to give us our room key. Apparently there was a problem of having no electricity due to the heat. No evening meal available and no bar; breakfast was average, with some folk having to wait a long time for service. The place was clean and room was comfortable.”

“Unfortunately we only stayed one night, and did not want to leave, the house is amazing so old in places full of history and character lovely gardens, just when you think that’s enough there is a games room! Great choice of breakfast just felt so welcome, relaxing in fact we found it magical !”

“Very tatty at the back of the hotel was not fully open and it was an Indian restaurant. No breakfast. There was a toilet roll in the bathroom which was soiled on the side would not stay there again.”

“Great place to stay for Forest Live. Hotel is lovely, warm and welcoming. It was a warm day so quite hot inside but we spent time outside in the huge gardens, the bar was open and we sat next to the river. Breakfast was superb, fresh fruit and proper butchers sausages! Would definitely stay again.”

“The property was very dated, with a need of a deep clean and decor update. Carpets were stained and our particular room had a unpleasent smell. Overall the property has seen better days, I guess this is reflected in a lower than average room price for the area. Staff however were very friendly and although we did not eat a main meal, the portions looked generous and other guests appeared content. Suggest read the available reviews and make you own decision.”

“Very nice stay. Young man - sorry didn't get his name - behind bar who checked me in was excellent, so helpful and polite. Breakfast, however was disappointing. Had to book a specific time slot and when I arrived, having booked and paid the evening before, I was told that they didn't know that I had booked. Was then asked what I wanted to eat with no menu choices and took quite a while to make although only cereals and toast on offer. Dispite this I would stay again as lovely location,...

“I was not really happy with the room I was given. I booked a normal room, but received a room for an impaired person. I was put in room 1. The shower was a wet floor shower, which was not too bad, but the bed was terrible. The mattress had collapsed and I ended up sleeping ( actually I didn't sleep) in a dip, ended up with body aches.”
