Casa di famiglia con una vista da un milione di dollari del lago di Lewis Smith. Ideale per vacanze in famiglia, viaggi per ragazze, battute di pesca, ecc. La casa era su HGTV Bargain Lake Front Homes. Se desideri soggiornare in un bellissimo lago cristallino - con tramonti tranquilli - il nostro posto è perfetto per te. Siamo nascosti in una baia che blocca alcune delle scie - tuttavia, aperto al canale principale sul lago. Abbiamo una grande area piscina privata e due diverse aree da esplorare su kayak.   • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

Wonderful view and a peaceful, quiet place to rest and relax!

We absolutely loved this lake house and the stunning, million-dollar views! The neighborhood was peaceful and felt very safe. We especially enjoyed the pier and the water. This was our first time staying at Smith Lake, and we really loved the area. The house was exactly as described in the listing. Our kids had a blast, and the water was absolutely beautiful. The check-in and check-out process was super easy, and the host was terrific, with great communication. Thank you for sharing your home—we'll definitely keep this house on our list for future visits!

Awesome place

Great property!! Close to grocery store but still great location on lake. Only problem at all and it won’t stop me from renting again, is the boat dock doesn’t have an open slip so you have to tie off on one side which is fine unless it rains. But I would definitely recommend this property.

Definitely “A Happy Place!”

Our family had a great stay at this lake house. The view is gorgeous! We enjoyed the main porch, the screened-in porch, as well as, the boat dock. There was ample seating on each level. Unlike other vacation homes, this owner had everything in the kitchen that we needed to cook and eat with. They also had games to enjoy! We highly recommend “A Happy Place.”

Family Vacation

We had a really great time. Very relaxing!!!! Thought there would be more to do around the area. The toilet was broken when we got there. They couldn’t come and fix it until Tuesday. After they fixed it it still did not work. Other then that is was a good trip!!!!!

Happy Place indeed

This lake house is lovely !! The veiw is amazing !! The area is soo nice . The house is so clean and very guest friendly .. It’s an excellent place to stay . I only wish we could have stayed longer .

Holiday week

My family and I have rented a lakehouse on Smith lake for the past 3 years, but this was a new area of the lake for us. We loved that it was less than a 5 min drive to the local grocery store and DG. This property was also super clean! Everything from the inside all the way to the bin of boat dock accessories was all free of dust! The neighborhood was clean and safe.

Beautiful View

We greatly enjoyed our stay. We had 10 adults. We enjoyed all eating around the large table and playing games. Plenty of room on the dock for us to all hangout comfortably. The view of the lake is spectacular. We were disappointed that the third shower/tub is not able to be used and the listing does not reflect that. We were able to make it work with two showers but a third would have been helpful. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely stay here again.

When can we come again to A Happy Place?!

This lake house is ideal for a peaceful getaway. The view is incredible and the layout is perfect for two families. We had 4 adults and 2 almost grown children. We felt like we were away from busyness of life but a grocery store is not that far away! The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing our meals. I could go on & on. We would definitely rent this property again. We didn’t want to leave.

Amazing trip

A Happy Place was just that for us - A (very) Happy Place to spend Labor Day weekend. The property accommodated our group of two families (four adults and 3 children) perfectly. The view of the lake is breathtaking, the dock is situated in a calm little cove that is perfect for swimming and exploring the adjacent rocks, and the kitchen and home were fully stocked with everything we needed. We were disappointed to see that the tub/shower in the third bathroom cannot be used, but we were able to fit in all showers, etc. in the other two bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and the property is nicely situated within 5 minutes of a grocery store, which is a huge plus! All in all, this was a fantastic first visit to Smith Lake. We would definitely recommend the property to others.

Fun and relaxing family getaway

This property and Smith Lake did not disappoint. The listing photos and description is very accurate, the house was very well stocked with everything we needed, Rene was easy to get in touch with, and we cannot wait to return for a future visit! Our little boy (2.5 years old) didn’t want to leave. We probably jumped off the dock and the rocks 500 times into that beautiful water! We rode many many miles on the lake in our boat and it really seems like the location and view of this property is REALLY top notch! Thanks for sharing your home and we can’t wait to come again next year!

Can’t wait to come back

We had an amazing weekend! Rene was incredibly responsive, kind, and helpful when it came to our reservation and specific questions we had. The view from her cabin is amazing and the location is perfect- you’re out of all the busy traffic on the lake and can still enjoy tubing/skiing. Would most definitely stay here again!!

Family Holiday

We enjoyed our stay at A Happy Place. Everything was fantastic. My favorite part--not many steps to water. Had plenty of room for everyone and the littles really enjoyed the yellow water mat. We rented a boat from Duncan Bridge Marina which made the holiday complete. Thank you for letting us use your lovely home.

Fantastic Time

We’ve spent many years visiting Smith Lake - our family loves it here. So after renting several properties over the years...this one checked many boxes for all 7 of us. Plenty of room and bathrooms. Not many stairs to the water. Open kitchen and den space for us all to hangout together. Loved the big kitchen table. Kids enjoyed the kayak and water toys provided by the owner. We really enjoyed all the seating on the dock. Spent a lot of time on the doc swing! So close to Duncan Bridge and Dunskin Point Marina. Kitchen well stocked. Plenty of towels, blankets and linens. Easy access to town. Owner is quick to respond to any questions. We are keeping this property on our favorites list.

Weekday Family Vacation

Very much enjoyed our few days at the house. The location on the lake was amazing and so close to Duncan Bridge Marina where we put in our boat. Will definitely be back! Smith Lake is beautiful and I would highly recommend going during the week. Not many boats on the lake when we visited so comfortable with the kids taking the kayaks out and playing near the dock.
