The toilet was too low and both my wife and I had problems getting up. No grab bar available for assistance. At 2:00 am I tried to use the elevator to go down to the "market" to buy something to eat. The elevator did not function. When I called down to report this to the desk, they seemed to know about it but were not equipped to deal with the problem. They told me I would have to wait until the "morning" shift came on at about 7 am. After 7 am I called the front desk and was told that their maintenance person would not answer the phone until after 8 am and that they would call me to let me know the results.. Every time I spoke to the front desk I advised the attendant of the following: Both my wife and I are handicapped and cannot use the stairs. We must be in our car and on the road no later than 10 am, due to a nurse appointment in Toronto to check my bandages, reset my pump, replenish my antibiotics and clense my picc line (I recently had spinal surgery and developed an infection). At no time did I feel that Marriot understood our potential dilema or that they were sympathetic to our situation. I did not get much sleep as I was on the phone with the front desk intermittently for over 6 hours before I was told that the elevator was now usable (it seems that the elevator went to the basement and the door was left open and thus it would not move.
