Life on the Lake. Enjoy the peace and kayaks.

  • Located within 20 minutes of both Fredericksburg and Culpeper, Virginia, this 2000 square foot home offers lakefront living on the 24-acre Keaton’s Lake within the gated community of Lake of the Woods. Keaton’s lake is ideal for fishing, swimming, kayaking or just lounging on the hammock or by the firepit enjoying the peaceful setting and beautiful view. Guests can also enjoy the 500 acre Main Lake and its many beaches and parks. There are also two swimming pools.

    The home comfortably sleeps 6, with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen is well appointed, all towels and linens are provided, and two kayaks, lifejackets and paddles are available for your use. While you’re here enjoy a wide selection of DVD’s, books, and games. There’s even a well stocked office area with computer monitor and printer.

    In addition to Keaton Lake, Lake of the Woods has a Main Lake covering 500 acres that offers fishing, swimming, picnic areas with outdoor grilling, and waterfront dining. This lake has two marinas, seven lake access areas, and eight sand beaches. Other amenities are numerous and include:
    • Two swimming pools
    • 18-hole golf course
    • Walking trails
    • Basketball court
    • Equestrian Center horseback riding
    • Parks and playgrounds

    There is a noise ordinance in place 10pm-7am; please be mindful of these outdoor quiet hours.

The house was exceptionally clean, comfortable and all our needs provided for. Communication was responded to quickly and helpfully. Night lights in place where needed including the steps. . Hosts went above and beyond to insure a great vacation.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If I could give this host and experience 6 stars I would. This is our second year renting this house and each time has been great. The house is great, location is great, there is easy access to everything (lake, pool, beach, grocery stores). Host was very communicative / responsive when I had questions and allowed me and my family to relax and enjoy our stay. We hope to come back for a 3rd trip next summer!

Beautiful property right on the lake! You can sit out on the deck right off the house and enjoy shade/sun and there is a second deck right by the lake to sit. There is a beautiful picture window with a gorgeous view to the lake! The owners thought of a lot of nice little touches like room darkening shades if you want sleep in a little bit! Thank you, Al and Marcia for a great stay. The owner was also very responsive and check-in and check out was easy!

Peaceful on the Lake

This place is quiet and scenic, yet close to amenities. The interior was comfortable and well appointed. The bed was beyond comfy and the view of the lake was beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice out of the way location in a nice quiet community. Great views of the lake with the fall leaves. Hosts provided everything you would need for a great stay.

Probably the best lake-side property we’ve stayed at so far. The quaint dock was easily accessible and a great fishing spot for those who just wanted a little quiet time. We didn’t use the kayaks but they were available. The property itself was well furnished/stocked, clean, and as advertised. The blackout shades and soft bed in the master bedroom were very much appreciated. The host, Al, was very responsive and informative. We would definitely come back again if the opportunity arises.

Clean place with beautiful views

The property was very clean and a perfect place to spend a few days with friends and our dogs. Despite the heat wave, we were able to stay cool between the kitchen views and the tree covered deck. We also enjoyed exploring the lake.

Such a lovely stay! So many things thought of, like flashlights handy by the door for nighttime dog walks. All the cozy blankets for staying warm while lounging on the sofa, the Christmas lights around the windows for a festive feel. Loved the game table, which we brought upstairs for a puzzle.

We had a wonderful time at this lake house and found the home to be beautiful and accommodating. The indoor and outdoor spaces made this a perfect get away spot! Al is an excellent host and responded promptly and was very helpful. We highly recommend!

Had a great time

My family had a great time at Lake of The Woods. My kids particularly enjoyed the air hockey table in the basement. The lake was nice for kayaking and it's great having such easy access right from the back yard. House was comfortable and offered plenty of entertainment. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Small Family get together

It was nice to return to Locust Grove after being gone for 7+ years and thoroughly enjoyed staying at Life on the Lake. Plenty of room for entertaining in multiple spaces. The ping pong/air hockey table was a big hit.

Fantastic vacation

This is the perfect home for any kind of stay! Not only does this place have everything you need it also has things you didn’t even think you would need. Lake was great for fishing kayaking and swimming. There is plenty of room in the home for people to do their own thing if they want or do something together as a whole family. Definitely stay here if you get the chance.

Wonderful stay!

The home was wonderful for a quiet getaway my husband and I really needed. The view was beautiful. We enjoyed the air hockey and ping pong table. The pool and beach were delightful especially on the hot days. The host thought of everything you would need during the stay. We will be back.
