The Space:
Crystal by Tiny Away sits quietly by the town of Cottles Bridge, just 56 minutes from Melbourne City. This off-grid, tiny house retreat is wired up and ready, with a solid 30-amp setup that powers two tiny homes—no fuss, no extra metering. The land is flat, shaded by a few well-placed gums, and backed by a water system built to last. Explore nearby gems like Yarra Ranges National Park, Warrandyte State Park, and Montsalvat.
A comfortable 139 square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet, hand basin, and gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the tiny home and its immediate surroundings. Some spots will be off-limits due to the high number of deer roaming around. However, guests can easily navigate and enjoy the space.
Preorders available with 24 hrs notice:
- Firewood: $20 per wheelbarrow
- Freshly Ground Coffee: $5 per serve
- Cold Bottled Water: $2 each (Mount Franklin or similar)
- Breakfast is $25 per person, including eggs cooked to your liking on toast with complimentary fresh fruit, and Dinner is $55 per person.

Nearby, the Yarra Ranges and surrounding areas offer a mix of natural beauty and cultural charm. From the towering Mountain Ash trees in Yarra Ranges National Park and riverside trails in Warrandyte State Park to the seven-acre Alowyn Gardens, there’s plenty to explore. Along the way, visitors can enjoy hearty pub meals and live music at Panton Hill Pub, wander heritage buildings and art at Montsalvat in Eltham, or simply soak in the lush landscapes and historic relics that make this region a peaceful retreat close to Melbourne.
Getting Around:
By Car:
- The best way to reach the property is via the Western Ring Road. Take the exit toward Hurstbridge, then follow the route to Cottles Bridge. It’s about 40 km from Melbourne CBD.
- From the south (e.g., Portsea), the drive takes around an hour via Eastlink or the Eastern Freeway.
- For a scenic route, take Beach Road through the city to avoid main highways.
- The property has good access and parking for easy arrival.
By Public Transport:
Train & Uber – Take the train to Hurstbridge (the last stop on the line). I can book an Uber in advance to make sure there’s no waiting.
Uber Directly – You can catch an Uber from Melbourne CBD, with a max ride time of around 20 minutes from Hurstbridge.
Taxi Option – 13cabs is also available if needed.
By Flight:
- If flying into Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), the drive to the property takes about an hour.
- You can rent a car or take a taxi/Uber directly.
- If using public transport, take the SkyBus to Southern Cross Station, transfer to the Hurstbridge Line, and follow the train-to-Uber option above.

- Gas BBQ grill is available
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Smoking is allowed in designated areas of the property
- Mobile reception has good signals for Telstra and Optus; but occasionally drop the calls
- Make sure to turn off the lights, AC, electronics, close windows and doors when leaving
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Pets are allowed, with a maximum of two (2) per booking. A fee of $40 per pet, per night applies, with 24 hours’ prior notice required. Pets must be leashed at all times. Full policy will be provided before booking.
Important note:
- BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas
- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
