Due architetti hanno progettato cottage con una camera da letto. Costruiti con lo stesso design e standard, i cottage sono separati e privati e circondati da 10 acri di giardini e foreste in cima alla montagna. La vista da ogni cottage è magnifica. Everything was great. Tessa and Stewart are quick to respond to any query and super friendly. The cottage was lovely and had a great view. We ordered from the Lyrebird menu and the food instructions were easy to understand and the food was delicious. The place was tranquil and peaceful.

Just Perfect

This was the second time we’ve stayed here; it is a wonderful place, very roomy, spotlessly clean, with everything you need including the provisions for a cooked breakfast on your first morning. The setting in the bush is magical and we did see some lyrebirds.

Straight up: Wombats.

Wombats. That's the review. I'm not sure how to make this easier for everyone but there are wonderful wombats around the property. They come right up to the accommodation. They LOVE eating the chestnuts that fall off the surrounding trees in autumn/winter. Best times are early evening after dark until about 9pm and then sporadically until about 4am. There is at least two that visit the property: - One very big, lovely wom-chonker. Shiny coat with excellent wombooty. This Wombat doesn't easily spook and is happy to come within 5m of people in the search for good grass to eat. - One small, cute and very timid wombubba. This wee little wom doesn't like interacting with the other wombat and gets spooked by cars that go past on the road. it prefers to hang around the tree line to feel safe. In the local area, we were able to spot four more along the roads in Mt Toolebewong and paddocks. They are all excellent. All of them significantly more marvelous than the lyrebirds and other wildlife present. Sure, watching exquisite birds wander through the under-canopy along with deer is pretty, but they have nothing on the wombies. Go for the Wombats. The Cottages are fantastic in every way but you'll soon understand you're also paying for the privilege to be around those sweet wombies.

We have absolutely adored our stay here, we could not have picked a better place to spend our first couple of nights together. The scenery was stunning, the air fresh, the area tranquil, and the cottage itself was more lovely and comfortable than we anticipated. Tessa and Stewart are wonderful hosts and communicated very well. Cannot recommend highly enough, will definitely be back.

Beautiful cottage with lovely views - it was so peaceful and secluded .The cottage is finished to a high standard , we had very cold spring weather (2cel & under) but were toasty warm with wood fire on every night - hosts were charming - everything was perfect games/books/music wine & meals are also available - luxury rural stay

Perfect Getaway!

We wanted some peace and quiet and to have a rest away from it all over New Year, and five nights at Mountain Ash was the perfect choice! The drive up Mt Toolebewong, the magnificent views, the comfy, spotlessly clean cottage with everything we could possibly wish for made sure of that! We even had a delicious three-course meal cooked by a local chef delivered to our door on NYE for an extremely reasonable extra cost. We didn’t need to go anywhere, although it is a short drive to all the conveniences and delights of the Yarra Valley. Did I mention the views? We loved it! One of the best we’ve stayed in, and we’ve stayed in a lot!

Exceeded expectations!

We had the most wretched weather and it didn't matter one bit because this property was so beautiful. We felt at home even as it felt like a complete break. They thought of everything. One thing: we think the spa wasn't working! Very child and dog friendly (we didn't bring our dog but could have) and so many beautiful surprises on the property including the gorgeous lily pond. Thanks so much :)

Victoria's best kept secret

As we ascended the lush beautiful road into Lyrebird cottages, an absolute sense of awe and calmness envelop you. Serene, picturesque, stunning in every way. Beautiful cottage perched right atop Mt Toolebewong amongst stunning bushland with the most incredible views over Yarra valley and Melbourne. An absolute credit to Stewart and Tess, this has got to be one of the best getaways in Australia.

Peaceful tranquillity

We loved our stay at Mount Toolebewong. Such a great spot with plenty of wildlife (saw a wombat for the very first time) and a sense of coziness of being out in the bush. Stewart was such a great host and made sure he was there to help us with anything. The cottage was extremely tidy and clean, plus there was everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend this getaway and look forward to staying there again.
