Great hotel with great staff. Room was simple and ventilation system and fridge a bit noisey, but we loved our stay. Staff helped us with lots of requests (for more tea, for a blanket, help with the washing machines) and we really appreciated it. Also a great location and lovely safe feeling with staff on 24/7.

Good central location close to public transport, friendly, helpfully staff. Only complaint would be the coffee machine at breakfast which uses powdered milk which means lacklustre coffee from a city that is well know for this beverage, second day paid for barista coffee at breakfast.

The position was fantastic. Breakfast was very good. However we pre payed our breakfast the message to that effect didn’t to the restaurant. So every morning the same ritual of explaining that we paid. We stayed there for 5 nights. Room was not serviced once! We called for fresh towels and guess what? The phone was either not answered or engaged. So we raided the housemaid’s trolley. The deceased owner Les Erdi (RIP) would turn in his grave to see what happened to his Hotel.

A very basic room. There were 4 of us, and we struggled having no mirror in the room other than one in the bathroom. You could feel the springs in the bed. Very busy and never more than one staff member on the desk so long lines. The highlight of this hotel was the location which was fabulous. It was clean, no complaints there but just not even slightly luxurious…

I don’t think they’ve vacuumed the room properly. I can understand the house keeping only come on the third day to change the towels, but at least have a clean room when there’s a check-in. The dust accumulated in the vent makes the place dated and dirty. The only positive is the location of the hotel, appreciate the closeness to everything.

Zimmer zur Straßenseite furchtbar laut. Einrichtung vom Zimmer sehr kalt, kein Bild an der Wand und nur ein Nachtisch vorhanden. Außerdem wenig Lichtquellen im Zimmer, sehr dunkel! Personal könnte freundlicher sein. Im Bad wenig Ablagefläche. In der Hotelbeschreibung wurde Shuttleservice angeboten, den es leider nicht gab!

My room was supposed to be cleaned every 3 days. On the day it was supposed to be cleaned, I got a note that my room couldn’t be cleaned due to unforeseen circumstances. So I told the front desk about it. It was supposed to have been done the next day, but it wasn’t done then either. I told the front desk about the no cleaning again. The only service I got was my trash removed and new towels (that I didn’t need)….

The only issue we had was when the lift had s meltdown. But it was fixed in no time. This property is wonderful. Nothing too much trouble from the staff. This was our second stay here and definitely our first choice when we return to Melbourne again,

Arrived around midnight and it appears the guy on reception hadn’t had a chat with anyone for some time so decided that he’d use me as his sounding board for a few minutes. Seriously mate, it’s past midnight and I’ve just stepped off a 9 hour flight, let me sleep. Asked him about laundry, he said there was a washing machine on the 8th floor. When I asked if there was a laundry service. He said no… there is. As long as you get it down to reception before 8am! Was told that my room would only be cleaned on the third day… in my case this was Saturday. Hung a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and took laundry bag downstairs. Came back later that afternoon and asked if there was any slight chance my laundry was there. Was told to check in my room… I told them there was a DND sign on the door so that was unlikely. They said I should check anyway… alarm bells started here. Next day I got to my room only to find a cleaner in there. So much for the Do Not Disturb sign. This was Friday, the day BEFORE they should be cleaning…. Complained pretty strongly to reception. Friday left to go for dinner, DND sign on the door again. Came back to find my laundry in the room. Not sure what Do Not Disturb signs mean in this place, but in every other hotel I’ve ever stayed in it means don’t enter the room. Poor form Mercure Welcome. Won’t be staying again. Suggest you think twice about your safety and the safety of your personal belongings before staying here people. Very poor.

Great location, close to shops, restaurants and transport. Plenty to offer for breakfast. Room was near the lift and was a bit noisy at times. Room was small but only there for 3 nights so that's ok. Desk staff must have been fairly new-couldn't find my booking! Asked me if I was sure I had a booking, found it eventually

The Mercure Welcome Melbourne was of a much higher standard than I was expecting. The staff are lovely, the room had everything we needed and was in great condition. The cleanliness in the room was exceptional (I suffer from dust mite allergies and get a stuffy nose and skin rashes when dust is present, but I did not encounter this at all). We paid a little extra for a quieter room on a higher level as we were concerned that being located in the central shopping district it may be noisy overnight and it was beautifully quiet overnight. Not even a thunderstorm one night disturbed us. The curtains were wonderful blackout too so you aren't even ware when dawn breaks. My only real criticism (which lost The Mercure a star on my review) was related to the mattresses which were really hard and not the most comfortable.

The hotel is in the heart of Mel city hence very convenient for transportation and shopping. Staff are nice and polite but not very helpful. Parking in a public car park is a bad experience.

Small room. No soap in bathroom. No service to room until day 3. Room was dark. The people servicing the room were great but so overworked, obviously the hotel is economising by cutting down on staff. Wait for lift in busy times could exceed 20 minutes, one lady was worried she was going to miss her flight. I will not be returning.

Over-charging for early check-in
We arrived about three hours early. The room was available but we weren't allowed to access it unless we paid $40 extra. All we wanted to do was leave our luggage, use the bathroom and then go to the tennis. They said we would use their services eg electricity and water to much before our booking started. So we just used their public toilet and left our luggage with the concierge and then went to the Tennis. We didn't arrive back till after 5.00 pm which is three hours after check-in and didn't use their services for 3 hours, so their argument is completely ridiculous. Lift your game MERCURE WELCOME. This doesn't happen at other hotels if the room is available early. I stayed in a King Bed room. The bed was VERY hard. The location convenient.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at [Hotel Name], and my overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The room design is still in the 90s but the bed was particularly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep.

Could hear outside noise even though advertised as sound blockout. No hand soap or hand towels in bathroom, very uncomfortable bed and rock hard pillow - woke up with neck pain and sciatic nerve pain down my leg. No hotel to airport trf as advertised just told to go to train station and catch skybus. Also no wifi as advertised.

Excellent location for a first visit of Melbourne
This Mercure hotel benefits from a great location right in the middle of the city centre. Everything you want to see in a Melbourne discovery trip is within walking distance. Rooms are OK overall and can accommodate a family of four. Bathrooms are very small but well maintained. Common areas are limited but the breakfast area was relatively spacious.

The hotel is in the centre CBD, very convenient to go shopping and dinning. There are many car parks around the hotel however the provided car park is not recommended. The drive way is very small and the stairway is very dirty and not safe. Hotel bedsheets, carpets, bathroom are new and clean however my bedsheet had a black mark and my sister room had paint dust on the floor. We called receptionist and she was kind sending someone to help us but no one turn up until we left. One powerpoint made our adapter jamed and could not be removed. I stayed in this hotel three times but only this time I had these experience.
