  • This beautiful new home is the second situated on the shore of Payne Lake just outside of Mountain View, Alberta and within 10 minutes from the entrance to Waterton National Park. Perfect for a couple wanting to get away or a large family gathering for a week or two. Close to other attractions like Cardston, Fort Macleod historical fort and Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, and Castle Mountain ski resort. Summer water activities are ideal outside your back door and this lake also is a popular site for ice fishing in the winter. Wooded areas are within walking distance as well. Sleeps 8. Please inquire regarding additional visitors and relevant fees.
    This property is available in 2 separate suites - the main floor with 3 bedrooms (THIS listing) has a full kitchen and a spacious living room along with two full baths. The lower suite (other listing) has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Book separately or RESERVE BOTH FLOORS for larger groups with a total 15% discount from the entire house price (which you'll be refunded when you reserve and complete both bookings). You'll love the spacious interior with vaulted ceilings and large picture windows facing the lake and mountains to the west. Link to the Lower Floor here:

We have stayed twice now ..once in each of 2 houses. They are beautiful and great views and wonderful houses. Host is fabulous and communication is great.

This property was the perfect home base for our family’s visit to Waterton Park! Wayne provided detailed directions to the property, which was incredibly helpful and made arrival easy.The house was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There was plenty of space for everyone to gather together while still offering enough room for privacy when needed.The lake views were beautiful, and we especially enjoyed watching all the birds. We would happily stay here again!

We booked this for our annual family Thanksgiving trip to the mountains for some hiking. It was a lovely place that was nice and close to Waterton, was spacious for our family and had some great views. We managed to get two seasons of weather in two days!

We loved the location right on Payne Lake which is swimable. The view of the lake and mountains in Waterton was spectacular and we loved sitting out on the deck in the evening. We rented the upper half of the house. Just be aware that sound does travel from the bottom house rental to the upper house rental. The soundproofing of the floor is pretty good in the bedrooms but the door that can be opened between units does not stop noise transfer. The owner of the property was excellent and worked very hard to remedy an air conditioning issue. ( didn’t work for two days and it was 30 degrees out) The house kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, spices, paper towels, foil and Saran and even a baby high chair and fold up crib/ playpen. Only a cutting board was missing! Washer and dryer has detergent available as well. We enjoyed our stay.

The perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. There is a path to the lake and steps for easy access to the water. It was great to be able to swim surrounded by Mountains! (a bit cold in June though)

Beautiful view!

This vrbo is absolutely beautiful! Stunning view of the mountains and lake. Perfect for a group of people to stay, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Very short drive from Waterton and the border, and lots to do and see in the area. Will definitely book again!

Family and friends get away

Great property. The view is breathtaking. Location is great to be far enough out of Waterton to enjoy the peacefulness and close enough to spend some time in the park. We’re already planning our next visit!

The home was beautiful and the lake view was incredible. Our family really enjoyed paddle boarding on Payne Lake. It was only a short drive from Waterton. The kitchen was well stocked and the island was great for family to gather around. The host (Wayne) was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We would go back!

A beautiful location matched with a new home on a pretty lake close (20 minutes driving the speed limit!) to Waterton and Cardston. Check-in was very easy, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the rest of the house was spacious and nice. Check-out was also easy and communication with the host was efficient. The morning views of the lake and the Canadian Rockies made this home an amazing stay!

Wonderful base camp for Waterton adventures. Beautiful setting to come back to at the end of a day exploring. The mountain views are amazing while watching local wildlife, like pelicans and cliff sparrows. The kids enjoyed the lake. Fortunately the weather cooperated and we had relatively calm wind and hot weather during our stay. Would definitely recommend this property to others. Sleeps 6 nicely, glad we didn’t have 8. The master bedroom has room for an air mattress which I would prefer to the living room sofa beds , so you may want to consider taking one if you have more than 6 people. Also consider packing beach towels and camp chairs for lake use.

Serenity by the Lake

Rental was as described in listing making this stay memorable!. The house was in immaculate condition and well maintained with wonderful views. Hated to leave! Scenery was spectacular with full views of the lake, plain and mountains in the distance. Most gorgeous sunsets! Will return again, if in the area. The only element that was lacking was access to the lake. We would loved to been able to enjoy a swim.

Nice quiet spot to relax outside of Waterton

We really enjoyed our stay right on the lake. It was nice and quiet and away from the town. We had everything we needed and it was convenient to be able to do laundry daily after getting dusty from hiking. The road to get here is a gravel road and the direct route via google maps will not get to the house. However, it was not a far drive away. It was about a 23 minute drive into Waterton town. When we are back in the area, we will return!

Stunning views and what a huge space!

Beautiful property with a beautiful deck overlooking the lake with stunning views! The owner was very responsive when I needed anything at any time. The only challenge I had was finding the place as there is no address. I’d recommend looking ahead at a map with the written directions so that your gps doesn’t lead you astray like mine did! The owner was a lifesaver getting us there in the end. 👍🏻😊
