I booked this resort weeks in advance for New Year’s Eve through January 2nd and received a confirmed 4:00 PM check-in time. I arrived at the property around 5:00 PM and waited 45 minutes just to speak with a front desk staff member. When I finally reached someone, I was told my room was not ready and to wait an additional 20 minutes.
That 20 minutes turned into over an hour, with no updates or communication. By 7:00 PM, there was still no room available. The front desk staff offered no real explanation, no alternatives, and no solutions, simply stating that the hotel was fully booked and they could not move me to another room.
By 8:00 PM, after waiting hours past the confirmed check-in time with no resolution, I was forced to book a room at a completely different resort on one of the busiest nights of the year.
This was extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and unacceptable—especially given the advance booking and confirmation. I later learned I was not the only guest experiencing this issue.
Customer beware. If you’re booking for an important date or holiday, be prepared for the possibility that your confirmed room may not actually be available.
