As an asthmatic and allergy sufferer, the industry has got to take steps to understand that scents are not for everyone. From aromatic soaps and shampoos, which is pretty much a norm, it’s now stepped over to use of highly scented disinfectants and use of scented air fresheners and spraying scents on furniture, and its gotten to be a bit much. “First and last time. Great disappointment! Would not recommend. Dirty unsanitary washroom. Trash on the floor. Staff not helpful. Paper thin walls, you could hear people talking like they are in your room. zero customer service. It’s hard for me to give this kind of review, but I’m just being honest.”

“A charming Inn to stay and enjoy all that passes by in Lock 7. Hskp staff very attentive and don’t miss a thing. Room 25 on 3rd floor is not perfect for photography as the neighbouring tree blocks a full shot of the ship in the lock. Balconies are a real plus and very clean! The chairs at the table are getting tired and should be replaced. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Make sure you visit the quaint town of Thorold. Lots of cafes and shops to enjoy within walking distance!”

“Room itself was clean. Staff in a way helpful. Air conditioning unit was old, still in working condition but not necessary as it was rather cold. Parking was available right in front of the door. Beds were very very hard, fridge was freezing everything in, and microwave is on its last stretch (mismatched parts - plate was from the different one and was not turning). the faucet in the bath tub was broken and for the first few minutes I got dirty back water coming out of it. “The room was a place to stay for a night. The bed was comfortable enough, there was a fridge and a microwave in the room. The clerk was pleasant. It was a no frills stay and that’s fine for the price. Only thing that might bother some is the a/c was noisy. It didn’t bother me.”

“I am disappointed with my recent stay. The room did not match the photos shown online, and the cleanliness was unacceptable. The wash basin had yellow stains, and the couch bedsheet had visible stains and marks. I have photographs of these issues and can provide them if required. Given the poor condition of the room and the difference between the advertised and actual accommodation, I believe the stay did not provide value for money.”
