This place was a hidden gem!!! George greeted us and was very kind. He made breakfast for us each morning and made our stay very comfortable. We met the most wonderful people also staying here and couldn’t have been more pleased. The location was within walking distance of everything, and the establishment is clean and well taken care of. No corners were cut, and George went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.

A quiet corner of Trastevere
It was my second stay and I found the guest house as welcoming as the previous time. Giorgio, the manager, is a wonderful host and Marco, the owner, makes the most amazing jam, on top of having maintained the place to feel like an authentic Trastevere apartment, but with comfortable beds and working showers, plus the most wonderful air conditioning! The area is very quiet, no traffic noise outside the windows. Keep in mind the building doesn’t have an elevator.

jag och min sambo stannade 3 nätter på Guest House Arco dei Tolomei och vi ha haft underbar vistelse i Rom. Marco och hans fru är underbar, båda är trevliga och hjälpsam. vi fick massor av tips om allting i Rom. Vi känns som hemma i detta Guest House. Komma att stanna här igen nästa gång vi åka tillbaka till Rom.

Wonderful people. Breakfast with Marco who is very knowledgeable all things Rome was a pleasure and very helpful. So was George and Gianna. They made Rome personable in an otherwise crowded with tourists everywhere trip.

Enjoyed my stay at this quiet, safe guest house in a beautiful part of Rome. I found myself wandering the streets of Trastevere many times, which never got old. The owner made sure to be there for my late arrival and took the time to review a map of Rome with me and provide touristy suggestions. My room was very sweet with a private terrace accessed through the window (steps going up to it). Breakfast was perfect; selection of breads, jams, cheese, tomatoes, yogurts, fruit, cereal, and homemade cake. Abundance of highly rated restaurants within walking distance. Check out Sette Oche just around the corner; it's delicious! NOTE: you'll encounter at least a couple flights of stairs (no elevator) and the door to the actual guest house (once you've entered the building) can be very tricky. Be sure to turn it to the left very hard! Also, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're uncomfortable with no one (aside from guests) being there for the majority of the day. Otherwise, a very pleasant stay and would return!

Almost perfect.
For us, the experience was magnific. But it is important to emphasize the: FOR US. Me and my wife love to know a city, walking all over it. I also like to run in the mornings. The location is perfect for both interests. Marco, his wife and the people working on the hotel were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is varied and well served. We left very early and the taxi they have ordered to pick us up ws punctually waiting for us.

Excellent place to stay
Excellent guest house with fantastic staff who recommended where to eat and booked tables and taxi's. The breakfast table was delightful and Joceline could not do enough to please everyone, even making hot chocolate and a fresh cake for those who wanted it. Marco arranged a taxi to and from the airport which was spot on and I would recommend. We can't wait to return to Rome and would definitely stay here again and again.

A gem hidden away in the heart of Rome
We stayed 3 nights at this guest house, and can very highly recommend it. Marco has an inspiring wealth of info and tips about Rome, and his restaurant recommendations are not to be passed on (besides he seems to always be able to get you a reservation, which is a must for the local places). The guest house itself is warm, welcoming and full of character. We loved staying here and would definitely return

Detta var en stor besvikelse! Vi hade läst en mängd positiva recensioner men blev överraskade när vi kom fram. Vårt rum var rymligt men väldigt slitet och smutsigt. Rummet var också lyhört och på fredag och lördag kväll/natt hördes mycket ljud från gatan. Det var dessutom väldigt kallt både i vårt rum och i matsalen där frukosten serverades. Vi påpekade detta för personalen men fick ingen respons. Frukosten var medioker och väldigt "basic". Några torra brödbitar, flingor med mjölk, lite pålägg, trist kaffe, söt juice från koncentrat, marmelad och lite frukt. Hembakade sötsaker som var stenhårda och brända. Att folk hyllar frukosten kan vi överhuvudtaget inte förstå! Ägaren Marco såg vi inte mycket och han försökte dessutom få mer betalt än det pris vi bokat till. Det positiva med detta guesthouse är läget. Mysiga kvarter med många bra restauranger och de flesta sevärdheter inom gångavstånd. Sammanfattningsvis kan jag inte rekommendera detta guesthouse, speciellt inte till det pris vi betalade (120 € per natt). Kändes mer som ett enklare hostel i Asien. Att föregående recensenter varit så positiva går inte att förstå.

Fantastiskt guest house!
Allt var fantastiskt och det enda vi skulle kunna klaga lite på är att det är lyhört. Men det är ju inte alls konstigt, huset är ju gammalt, så det hör ju till. Vi kommer absolut att bo här igen nästa gång vi kommer till Rom.

Utmärkt läge för den som vill bo centralt och samtidigt ha nära till kvartershak. Mysigt och unikt. Minus för att det var väldigt kallt på natten (var där i februari). Innergården såg ut att kunna vara väldigt trevlig på våren.

Home away from home!
Our recent stay at Arco dei Tolomei made for a truly memorable experience in Rome! The hospitality of the staff was warm and helpful. The location was excellent for a plethora of food choices and breakfast was delicious!

Det lille hyggelige hotel eller "guest house" er perfekt beliggende for en ferie i Rom, tæt på Viale di Trastevere og Tiberen. Personalet var utrolig serviceminded, og interiøret og stemningen helt i top. De eneste mindre minusser var lidt støj fra en restaurant ca. 50 m fra hotellet og en håndbruser, der var gået lidt i stykker. Alt i alt kan hotellet bestemt anbefales.

A very good choice - central yet quiet guest house
It is a guest house - not a hotel - so you need to adjust your expectations accordingly. Clean, nice size room, free Wi-Fi, extremely friendly host who gave us indispensable hints as to what to see in Rome (don't miss the Palazzo Valentini). Location is out of the hub, yet is close to everything you would want to explore. Most sites are easy walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet, charming, and full of good places to eat. Why not five stars? It is almost there. Furniture could be modernized a bit. For those who care - there are two flights of stairs (Carlo was kind enough to take our luggage upstairs, and also took them down when we left!) Breakfast was adequate, but not great: no eggs, and surprisingly no cappuccino or espresso machine (rather, very dark coffee)! Yet, Carlo remembered that I we prefer plain yogurt, rather than the sweet stuff. The help was wonderful: always in a good mood and smiling. All in all, this was a good choice. It probably deserves more than four stars, but i reserve five stars to the ultimate experience.

Great Italian feel! Short walk to must see sites.
It was wonderful. We throughly enjoyed it. We loved the stairs to the balcony that lead from out of the window! The room was lovely, the attention to detail did not go unnoticed, although we found the bed to be a little hard! We did not meet Marco, the proprietor, but did have the pleasure of being greeted by his assistant, Josline, and speaking with her on several occassions. We found her to be absolutely delightful and very helpful!

A Roman Nighborhood
Loved staying away from the center town bustle of Rome here just across the river in Trastevere, a fine old (very very old) but refreshing neighborhood. Arco Dei Tolomei is very nicely situated to walk to any spot in Rome Central and in Trastevere. Seems like you are staying in your own comfortable home filed with art and history. The proprietors and staff here are amazingly friendly and helpful, made the 5 day stay here truly enjoyable. Excellent breakfast and nice louging area and patios are special. Thanks for a great stay. Highly recommended.

Feel like a local in this neighborhood
The Guest House was perfect as we were looking for an area close to the touristy sites without being right in the middle of them. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a block away from the Tiber River and a 30 min walk or less to everything. In seeing some of the other areas, was very happy to stay here.

Charming B&B with more than a touch of luxury
We felt like guests in Marco's beautiful family home in the Trastevere section of Rome. The dining room, of course, is central to one's stay in a B&B, and Guesthouse Arco dei Tolomei's is sumptuous! Breakfast was the opportunity for delightful conversation and for dining on a delicious assortment of Italian goodies ranging from freshly-made cakes to hams and cheeses to Marco's own cherry and orange home-made preserves. We could have lingered all morning! This was the finest breakfast in all our B&B and hotel stays in Italy. Marco and his wonderful cook/assistant Jocelyn, were extremely hospitable and helpful with directions, advice, and ordering/downloading tickets - to the Vatican Museum, for example - from their computer, which guests may use. The house is furnished with lovely antiques and excellent taste, yet has a relaxed, comfortable "feel." Our room was comfortable in the Rome heat, with both a little balcony for sitting and air conditioning. We stayed at Guesthouse Arco dei Tolomei for four days and would return in a heartbeat.

A great place to stay in Rome
We had a very enjoyable stay at Marco's. The breakfast every morning was beautiful and delicious. Marco was very helpful in suggesting places to eat. And when we couldn't find an available tour for the Vatican, Marco found one that was far better than any we could have found on our own. If we return to Rome, we will stay at Marco's again.

We could have not asked for a better place, family and location to stay at. This place had more than you can imagine and Marco was more than helpful providing us with guidance on sites to see. It was a great place to finish our honeymoon :).

A Treasure
Guesthouse Arco de’ Tolomei is one of those little gems you find every now and then. It’s a quirky little B&B on the 3rd floor of an old house on a cobbled street, a couple of hundred meters from the Tiber in the less touristy part of Trastevere. It’s a half hour walk north along the right bank to the Vatican City, and the centre of Rome is just over the bridges at Tiber Island. Rome is an easy city to walk around, and the location is both convenient and quiet. Our room was on the upper floor, and we had a terrace overlooking the wisteria that drapes the rear of the building – sun in the morning, shade in the afternoon. The room itself was pleasantly furnished with some tasteful bric-a-brac, it had air conditioning, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast is taken at a communal table, and the choice was a typical continental breakfast though we can recommend the home-made conserves, and particularly the polenta cake. The owners, Marco and Gianna, are an absolute delight, and could not be more welcoming or more helpful. Marco knows all the local restaurants, who owns them, who used to own them, whether the food has benefited from the change in ownership, and what the best dishes are. He will help you plan your trips into the centre of Rome, and helped us to visit places slightly off the standard routes that were just wonderful. When we next go to Rome, our choice of accommodation is already made.

Stay here if you want the true Rome
On the west side of the Tiber river sits a quiet beautiful guest house known as the Arco dei Tolomei. Within an easy walk of ancient Rome the guest house is in the Traverse section of Rome, which is the working man's neighborhood. There is a square that has 15 good restaurants and stores to occupy your time if tired from the bursting tours and churches. The owner Marco lives within the premises and greets each guest in the morning with some news on what and where to go for sights, food, and fun. I can not recommend this more highly.
