Arrived and after 1 hr following check in was able to get keys to room. Went upstairs and the room was the basic king, not the deluxe king with balcony that we’d paid for. At no time when we first arrived or when we were given our keys were we told the room was not what we’d reserved. After calling the front desk it was clear that they truly weren’t concerned, said there were no other rooms available and no adjustments to my account would happen because I booked on Expedia. Very dismissively stated that the hotel isn’t paid until after I check out. The hotel was 100% booked and they clearly intentionally overbooked. Beautiful property and we’d stayed here before but the service on the hotel side was atrocious. The separately managed restaurant seemed to have a more effective crew. We will never stay here again. I’ve attempted assistance using Expedia’s support chat but think I may be bumping into walls. I book often with Expedia and have never had issues with my hotel or flight bookings prior to our experience with Valencia. This seemed systemic since the front desk manager Roger behaved like this was a common thing and it was my problem, not his.
