  • Questa casa lungolago è situata accanto al tranquillo Whisper Lake, nel cuore della Sapphire Valley. Questo spazioso, 4 camere da letto e 4 bagni ha 2 zone soggiorno (al piano di sopra e al piano di sotto), ognuna con una piattaforma avvolgente e vista sul lago da cui si sente il rumore dell'acqua corrente. Il piano superiore ha una grande sala grande che dispone di un camino a gas e parete di finestre con vista sul lago e sulle montagne. Il piano inferiore può funzionare come una seconda zona soggiorno e comprende un soggiorno con camino a gas, accesso al ponte inferiore avvolgente e una sala giochi con libri, giochi da tavolo di famiglia e un biliardino. Tutte e quattro le camere sono spaziose con una bella vista e hanno accesso ad un bagno completo. La cucina completamente attrezzata ha un forno a doppia parete. Il giardino esterno ha molti fiori progettati per attrarre colibrì e farfalle. Fai una passeggiata lungo il sentiero attraverso il fogliame lussureggiante dove troverai un molo privato e una canoa (disponibile per il tuo uso). Buona pesca per i bluegill e bassi in questo lago tranquillo (non sono ammessi veicoli motorizzati). Per una piccola tassa, gli ospiti hanno accesso ai numerosi servizi Sapphire Valley Resort (golf, tennis, piscine interne ed esterne, mini-golf, biliardo, ping-pong, centro fitness e sala giochi) e accesso a 55+ acri Fairfield Lago (nuoto, pesca, canoa, kayak, paddle boarding e nautica a motore o vela). Lovely location, although the circuitous roads are a little tricky. Luckily, Eddy gave very specific directions. The house was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the lake. This is a great spot to get away from it all, and the property manager made himself completely available.

Great Lake House!

This house was awesome! It's enormous and could easily sleep 12. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and there was plenty of bedding and towels (beach towels would be a nice addition).The views are spectacular and it is serene and quiet. We loved using the canoe, foosball table and games. It has a nice kitchen and we cooked several meals and used the grill. It has plenty of pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc - my only wish was that it had more simple staples like oil & vinegar, spices, etc. I would definitely stay here again!

Evaluation of VRBO Property #1341898, Lakeside Cottage, Whisper Lake, Sapphire, NC

We have had five visits to the Highlands, Cashiers, and Sapphire area over the past 6 years, to all different houses. This was the first time we have been disappointed with the accommodations. It was stated in previous evaluations that the parking was extremely limited. Only two cars can be parked without hanging out into the road. It is then 21 steps down from the parking area to the main level of the house. This was no fun with suitcases or tenants with orthopedic problems. The lighting at the top of the stairs did not function. That was a bit unsafe. Our biggest objection had to do with the ventless fireplaces. I tried one the first day and the house was filled with propane fumes. Propane vapors are definitely toxic. It was a great disappointment to spend a week in the mountains without being able to use a fireplace. Written instructions for the television would be helpful. Eddy, the property manager, had to go over this with us over the phone. The upper deck was nice for sitting, but there were only two high Adirondack chairs. There was a wrought iron table and chairs. There is not much of a view of the lake, due to the trees. You are able to see the orange and yellow kayaks standing up at the community area across the lake. There were no comfortable chairs on the lower deck, only two of the wrought iron chairs. The advertisement photos showed Adirondack chairs down there. There was no view at all from the lower deck. The housekeeping left a lot to be desired. There was mildew in the downstairs shower. I found a bunch of hair on the wall of it, when I took my first shower. When we plugged in cell phone chargers near the head of the bed, there was at least five years of dust and dirt. The middle level tub was wiped with a disposable Lysol wipe when we arrived. It came out black. The silverware drawer was dirty, containing dust, food, and hair. It had to be washed. A Jacuzzi tub is downstairs. We couldn’t figure out how to work it. There were no instructions for it. This is probably just as well, as who knows what would come out of the jets. The lights over that tub and in the bathroom closet weren’t functioning. The middle bathroom downstairs has a shallow tub, but no shower. It has been mentioned about the difficulty in getting down to the lake. It is quite steep and involves going down under a tunnel of rhododendrons. The dock is smaller than a twin bed. There was only one aluminum paddle. The dock is close to a spillway over a dam.

Spacious retreat on lake and mountains

Very nice and large home. We enjoyed the beautiful views, ample space, and comfortable furniture. We are a family of five and it was terrific to have a bedroom and private bath for Mom and Dad and each of our mostly adult children. We enjoyed using the canoe and the reasonably priced amenity cards. The fitness center was well equipped and our youngest son enjoyed the arcade at the rec center. Property is close to parks and trails and other recreational activities. Mattresses are very firm, but that’s better than too soft. Propery could definitely accommodate a larger family, but we all liked having our own space. We cooked almost all of our meals in the kitchen. It’s not fancy, but it had everything we needed.

Only issue was parking.

This is a great rental cottage and location. There is not a lot of room for off-street parking at the cottage (maximum of 1-2 vehicles), and access to the front door from the off-street parking involves a fairly steep set of steps. Otherwise, very pleased.

The view of the lake from the two level porches was great and the view of the surrounding mountain area was beautiful as well. Our party of four couples had a great enjoyable time. The only negative was one of the bedrooms had no closet and the bathroom had no shower only a tub. Overall the property was very accommodating.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our 50th wedding celebration with family was made delightful with the house being exactly as stated, along with the other amenities. The only drawback was the winding road (Highway 64) to get to the cottage. The area abounds with wild life, waterfalls, fishing, and various places to collect rocks & minerals, especially a shop in Brevard NC, which my 2 grand children enjoyed. I sincerely recommend this to everyone. There are always a few things which could be corrected, such as replacing a leaking blender, providing adequate trash bags, parking for only 3 automobiles, failure of management to notify us of a "boil order" for the water, which a neighbor conveyed to us.

The location was great for going into Cashiers and seeing the sights. It was just the 2 of us but a family of 10-12 could also be comfortable there. My husband got to do a little fishing from the canoe. It was very private and relaxing.

Had a small issue with the hot water after the first night, but Eddy at Silver Creek had his guy out first thing the next morning and we had hot water before breakfast. Nice job. Would highly recommend staying, but the only concern might be all the stairs you have to travel getting to the front door.

The Rental Agent was extremely helpful with any questions since this was our first time staying in the area. The house has 3 floors with plenty of sleeping arrangements for everyone. The house and bathrooms were clean which is very important to us as renters. Kitchen was good with plenty of dishes. Very nice New Coffee Maker, but thePots and Pans were a bit old and rugged. Plenty of towels and the Washer/Dryer were very nice.Loved the Lake for swimming and the canoe was fun. We had a wonderful Ten Days there.

The home itself is large and was perfect for our three families. Each family settled in on one of the three floors so each had their private space, and we would spend most the time gathering in the expansive great room with adjoining kitchen and dining room. We are foodies and prepared wonderful meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Waterfall hikes are nearby, and our little ones loved the swimming pool. You are truly out in nature, but close enough to Cashiers to get to the grocery store and some antiquing. Also near Lake Glenville to rent a pontoon. It's a lovely place for a serene and restful vacation with cool temps...a great place to escape the heat of Texas.
