“Excellent staff. Caring and helpful. Clean! Nice breakfast. Spacious king size bedroom. Only issue was the single elevator failed and climbing 3 stories was no fun at all. Fortunately it failed one day ago and not at the start of our weeklong stay.”

“Property was clean. It was well stocked. Kitchen was very nice. The bathroom was spacious, clean nicely laid out. Did not like that they charge you or Matthew 20 something dollars a day for men that you have right out of the property whether you use it or not they automatically charge you for every night you stay which is not just justifiable. It is better to charge you if you use the amenity as soon as you go in since you have to drive to the location, they can charge you an interest rate...

“We had a bottom floor room with a door that led out to the patio which was right on the river…. It was so relaxing rocking in the chairs and watching the river rafting folks navigate the river!!! Beautiful place for quiet time in the morning!!! Also please visit Quirky Bird restaurant!!!! What a gem!!! Best Pizza we’ve ever had!”

“I reserved a room 6 months in advance, but upon check-in was told that they “don’t assign rooms until the day of” so they do not guarantee you get the type of room you reserved. In fact, we did not have 2 beds as reserved. It seems that the reservation system is broken as they should only book what they know they have. Or, at the very least, assign rooms first come, first serve. Very disappointing.”

“The room was clean but you could smell the room before you even opened the door. Wasn't sure if it was cleanser or air freshener or what but it was overwhelming and hard to relax. Also the room was so small you could barely walk around the beds to get to the sink (which was oddly far away from the bathroom) or the bathroom itself. Was not a welcoming environment in the room at all. The river in back was nice but the property itself is right off a main road with railroad tracks you have to cross...

“The room was large, clean, comfortable. The location was convenient and ideal for walking to downtown Sylva. Very pet-friendly, our dog was provided with a comfy blanket and a metal bowl for her water. Perfect.”

“The Mountain House is unique. It is truly an old house that has been modified to include rooms and a restaurant. There are about 8-10 rooms in the Main House where we stayed. There is a separate building called the Bunkhouse out back. The room was clean but very small and tight. More so that I thought was possible but we got used to it. The air conditioner and TV worked well but the window shades were hard to operate. Our room had a queen-sized bed and it was nice. The biggest challenge was that...

“TV not user friendly. Toilet sat Exceptionally low down those of us with bad knees, Pillows all had poor neck support.”

“The maintenance of this property was quite poor. The air conditioning unit was super loud. The shower drain was clogged. The sink drain was clogged. The Bath fans had been disconnected and were inoperable. My reservation was confirmed for a handicap room, but when I arrived I was given a regular room on the second floor and there are no elevators. Overall my experience was quite unpleasant and I would never book another room at this location.”

“Loved Outpost Inn; highly recommend and can't imagine staying anywhere else in town -- incredible vibe, great coffee shop and wine bar, lots of cute spots to sit inside and outside. It felt like the place in town when all the younger, cooler (young meaning, 50 and under, ha) hang out. I loved my room, which was spacious and comfortable. I appreciated the free drip coffee in the mornings. And wow, the weather in Highlands can't be beat in the summer.”
