The charming, medieval village of Scala, lies only 2 kms far from Ravello. Its name means “ladder” or “flight of steps” in Italian, characteristic of this hill-top village which runs along the side of the Dragon Valley right above Amalfi and adjacent to Ravello. It is the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast and is the ideal location for people who enjoy country hill walks. Paths lead to seldom visited hamlets, small chapels and medieval ruins with enchanting views over the coast and the valleys below.
Set in the middle of the Monti Lattari chain and dominated by the great mass of its medieval Cathedral, the current structure of the commune of Scala made of towers, noble palaces, monasteries and churches, refers to the medieval division in ancient villages which have now become six small hamlets or “borghi”: Scala center, San Pietro, Santa Caterina, Campidoglio, Pontone and Minuta , each rich in history, large choise of hidden paths and enchanting views. This is a timeless gem and favoured location for visitors seeking a truly authentic medieval atmosphere , traditional restaurants , fresh products and fresh mountain air, “far from the madding crowds” of other local tourist resorts.
Villa La Torretta is part of an old house located in the hamlet of Campidoglio which offers one of the most amazing views over Ravello, the Dragon Valley , the coast below, the mountains and the sea at a distance. The hamlet comprises a series of medieval buildings built around the medieval Church of Annunziata which has been turned into a polyvalent structure equipped for meetings and performances.

Within a 20 minutes walk , is the main square of Scala , called Piazza Municipio. Here you will find restaurants , grocery shops , open air cafés and the stop for the SITA buses that run from Scala to Ravello, to Amalfi and other destinations on the Amalfi Coast .
We recommend hiring a car, which you will be able to park in a private parking garage at approximately 200 meters . The garage is large enough for two vehicles or a minivan ( not "ideal" for the Amalfi Coast. Medium size cars are recommended )
Accommodation: The total area of the villa , spread out over two levels, is 120 sqm indoor , 50 sqm of terraces and 200 sqm of garden, all with sensational views
Ground floor - a combined living/dining room with kitchen corner and a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
The living/dining room has a high vaulted ceiling, and receives plenty of natural light . The furnishings include a wood dining table for 8 people, an attractive antique piece , an air conditioning /heating unit , a satellite television .The kitchen corner has all requisite appliances and equipment such as a four –burner electric cooker, a large refrigerator with freezer, a washing machine, a microwave oven, an American style coffee maker and a kettle, etc etc
On the left side of the living/dining room , you will find a spacious bedroom which has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/200 cm ), two bedside tables, a large wordrobe and a comfortable sofa with additional pull out bed . The room has French doors leading onto the patio and an air conditioning/heating unit . This bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a bath tub with shower head and shower wand and hairdryer.
On the right side of the entrance door, a flight of stairs with 18 steps, leads you to the first floor
First Floor – Two bedrooms, each with a matrimonial bed ( 190x200), that can be adapted into twin beds. The larger bedroom has also a single sofa bed.
Each bedroom has air conditioning/heating unit , two bedside tables, TV, French doors onto the balcony and en-suite bathroom with a washbasin, a toilet , a fully enclosed shower and hairdryer
The patio is 20 square meters large. It is shaded by a brickwork pergola under which is a dining table with chairs and patio furnishings
The garden:From the patio, down a small set of six stairs, you will find the garden, The garden is 200 sqm large and enjoys a wide and splendid view of Ravello, of the sea and of the Amalfi Coast .
The garden, planted with colourful flowers , olive and citrus trees, is equipped with an above-ground heated Jacuzzi tub with hydromassage with four seats , a sunbathing area with sun loungers, an external shower and a barbecue
Access: La Torretta will be accessed from the street level walking down a stairways with 50 steps .

Ravello is 5-10 minutes by car or 40 minutes walking.
Coastal beaches ( Atrani or Amalfi) are 20 minutes by car.
Restaurants and groceries are few minutes by car or 20 minutes walking.
Amalfi (the harbour with ferry services to Salerno, Positano , Ischia and Capri ) 20 minutes by car , Positano - 40 minutes by car, Pompeii - 50 minutes by car
Naples Airport - 1 hour 20 minutes
