“This property was undergoing renovation during our stay. The hall was covered with protective cardboard and paint smell was noticeable. Our room was clean and comfortable and very large. It could have definitely used some redecorating as the furniture seemed somewhat random like the bookcase partially covering the mirror. It could be a lovely place with a great location once renovations are complete.”

“This is a fun and quirky hotel, located right across the street from the pier, restaurants, and shops on St. Simons Island. The room was huge! ”

“The Kress was an amazing surprise for my wife and I during a quick overnighter to meet up with some old childhood friends. I grew up in this area and the downtown district had been forgotten. It was great to see this place back to life. The Kress has done an excellent job restoring this old department store. The rooms are incredible with large common space and bedrooms. I wished we had booked an extra night. ”

“Our room was clean. Bed and bedding comfortable. King suite was well appointed. Breakfast was very good and area was very clean. Did not use pool but walked by it several times area was clean and water sparkling.”

“Great location. ECHO food was very good. Staff courteous. Cleanliness was excellent. We were in the historic building and the room was very small. The issue we had was the room location inches from the side entrance stairwell. This made it very noisy often at night.”

“The breakfast was good. Most of the staff were helpful. The pool and hot tub were poorly maintained. The room itself could have been cleaner.”

“The floor was "swepted" but was not clean. I thought the bathroom doorknob was on backwards, but then I realized the door was removed and rehung upside down. The pillows were very thin. THE shower was good, very generous with the hot water, the a/c worked well and the staff was nice. Overall, I really wasn't impressed.”

“Room was clean. Definitely older property. Pets allowed which was great! My door however did not have any interior installation so it was not as secure as I would like and allowed noise and sunlight through it. In room fridge definitely needed to be cleaned better. ”

“The property definitely gives what you pay for. The rooms can definitely use an update feel. There are minor/simple things that can make the room better looking. Updating the paint on walls maybe some accent decor, discard the bedding if it has spot on them. The overall stay wasn’t bad the pictures advertised should reflect the room my personal opinion.”

“We were put in a handicap room and we did not request this. Our lights did not work and the staff just said it’s the only room we have. No apology or request to address the issue. My husband had to find the breaker and trip the switch for lights and he also had to attach the toilet seat! The worst hotel experience I have ever had! ”
