“In a single phrase: absolutely "no frills", but as a solo-traveler this place gets the job done. The location is excellent, but the bare-bones nature of the property makes it hard to rate it higher than 3 stars.
The best part about the room itself was the temperature control. Of the several other hotels I stayed at during my travels, this was the only one that let me dial it down / cool the room for extra comfortable sleeping--which gives it extra bonus points. ”

“Very friendly and helpful host. If you're a foreign traveler, keep in mind there are shared bathrooms, the walls are thin, and there is not a traditional lock on the door (just a very small padlock). The bathrooms are pretty small, even if you are a shorter person. It is a true rustic traditional Japanese inn. We were comfortable in our room with the tatami mats, blankets, and heater. Great location for getting to the subway, restaurants, and sites. ”
