“The Sloop Inn is in a convenient location to explore the area. The bedroom was small and had too much furniture; the two chairs took up all the space left in the room to move around, open a suitcase. The only power sockets were behind the bed. In order to plug in my phone and other chargers, I had to pull the bed away from the wall about 15cm in a room that was already too small. The bathroom sink light did not work. The staff were great.”

“Lovely cottage. Good location too. The only negative was the bugs that woke us up in the middle of the night. A bit scary because they are really big and crawls on your skin. Other than that, still okay.”

“Nice big room. Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Had our little dog with us and although a LOT of dog rules, she was allowed in most places. We only had continental breakfast which wss adequate. Full breakfast looked generous. We ate one night at the restaurant which was good. Sadly the view not idea with temporary kitchens that look lile they will be there a while.”

“Lovely spacious room, brilliant location in the heart of the Forest of Dean (we saw wild boar in broad daylight, just outside the hotel). Excellent meal in the the dining room in the evening of our stay. Online check-in didn't seem to have worked, but this may not have been the hotel's fault.”

“Stayed here Mon-Fri. My initial opinion of this place was very good. Staff were very friendly and appeared efficient. Check-in was easy. Rooms are very good with a ceiling fan and additional tower fan in the room which was helpful during the recent spell of hot weather. Breakfast was good. Couldn’t connect my laptop to their wifi so had to use mobile network. Food in the restaurant was good and delivered piping hot but service is slow and food is a bit pricey. “Room 9 Bathroom shower was a disaster. One could not turn off the overhead shower fixed head in order to use just the hand-held shower.”

“My overall assessment on the stay would rate it no more than a three star. There are some minor maintenance issues that need to be looked into. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good and the full English was excellent. The idea of filling out what you wanted for breakfast the previous day was not really how I would like it as this might change, I would prefer to decide on the day. Conclusion: The accommodation was a little tired and in need of a spruce up.”
