A world of subterranean wonders, a milestone in geological discoveries, Luray caverns, is a wonderful weekend getaway for those who are living near DC or Virginia. It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC.
This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns.
All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern.

Tips:
1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays.
2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things-
Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within!
The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;)
The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! DO NOT miss this one!

“This is one of the best Hilton’s have stayed. Literally near restaurants and shopping. Staff were so nice and accommodating. There is a spa in the hotel you have to book a day in advance. They have a 24 hour gym and a pool and hot tub. There is a restaurant in the hotel you can get food. The negative the pool is under 14 need parents with you anything else is fine. “Hotel is nice and in a great location. Staff is not considerate of activities in the area. I checked in and was warned the water would be off from 2-5AM. I said thats fine Id be sleeping. Turns out the work was being done right next to my room…. I had to ask to be moved. One would think they’d be more considerate with placement of guests to work being done. Be advised if you stay there to think ahead fir yourself. ”

“Property is great with a parking garage and easy access to great food spots. Battleship Wisconsin is literally yards from the garage.
