“A 3-star hotel / bed-and-breakfast - very personal, friendly service. The hotel is visited daily by locals buying newspapers. All meals cooked to order, including breakfast - a nice change to the usual experience in hotels nowadays. We turned up at about 4.30pm to find opening time was 5pm - we must have missed this in the instructions. The hotel was open promptly at 5 pm however. On the Sunday the bar closed at 5pm so dinner had to be elsewhere - not a problem for us as we always tend to have...

“Lovely spacious, clean & comfortable apartment in excellent location few minutes walk to Wells & shops. Good place to stay for exploring other attractions around the area, Cheddar Gorge, Haynes Motor Museum, Bath, etc. I would highly recommend especially for a couple. Not suitable for wheelchair bound or those who have difficulty with stairs as it is situated on the fourth floor with four flights of stairs to climb.”

“My partner and me stayed during the first horrible heatwave in June, to get some respite in the AC that was featured in the amenities of the property. Not only was there AC in the room, but also in the pub/restaurant area! It was absolutely delightful - we struggled leaving! The staff were so friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble. We were given a flask of fresh milk to have with tea/coffee in the room, and some freshly baked cookies. I couldn’t get the shower to cool down, this...

“The pub is an old building, therefore there are things that cannot be changed, so if you are a light sleeper and cannot use ear plugs this may not be for you. It was not an issue for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, we had one evening meal there, breakfast was perfect, they were very accommodating by tweaking the menu to what you prefer. Very close to the caves and gorge, easy to access other attractions.”

“On arrival we were informed to dine within 8:30 p.m. and once sit at the restaurant (at approx 7:35 p.m.) we were informed that nothing on the menu, except for what displayed under "sunday roast", which included about 3 starters and 3 mains, would have been served.
