“Last minute booking for Easter weekend. Turned out to be a great little hotel with some grounds with a stream and a lake for the dog/ kids to explore. Some gray pubs nearby for dinner (Ye Olde George). The owners are very friendly and showed us the historic cellars. Great for a break, room was smallish but had everything needed.”

“Overall ticks all the boxes . In some need of updating , decor , furniture . Mattress too soft for me , a topper or new one would be ideal. Parking was fine. An altercation with the owner and a guest at 1.30 am on my second night didn’t help my sleep . Whilst my room was next door to the entrance , and in all probability not the fault of the owner , regardless , there are other guests in the accommodation to consider. Overall decent for the price . ”

“James was great at communicating and very helpful. Even posted back to us a couple of small things we had left at the house. The house is as described. the bed in the main bedroom the only one we used was very comfortable. Despite being horrible weather the house was always warm and the heating was easy to control. The kitchen is well equipped.”

Quite disappointing
"Well placed ancient hotel close to the main activities in Portsmouth. Although, the cleaning serve was very disappointing: we have found a spit in the internal side of the main window, the bathromm was not well clean and there were a bush of someone’s hair and a sponge on the bathroom floor. Moreover the cleaning service did not clean the room even after has been requested: they have only refilled the bottle of water and changed the tea cups. They haven’t touched the beds or done anything else. "
