“Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. “Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. “A lovely setting with a picturesque and historic building. Rooms are either in the castle itself or in the attached wing, which seems to be slightly more modern. The bathroom is highly modern, the room less so. Overall very comfortable and well appointed. Not entirely soundproofed (corridor sounds, doors closing and some talking). Excellent dining - i enjoyed the lamb moussaka and had a great glass of Shiraz with it. Nice staff, attentive service. ”
