“A very nice hotel , good rooms and superb food and wines. Dover Sole for dinner was magnificent. Wines chosen from their adjacent wine shop ( corkage £10 per bottle ) were exceptional and good prices for Bin ends. Staff were very helpful , polite and very efficient.”

“Lovely old hotel. Nice and clean. If you're any of the upper floors, there's no lift so be prepared to get your steps in. The food in the restaurant was great. The waiter was very attentive and helpful.”

“We had a wonderful warm welcome at the Agricultural Inn. My bro and I stayed for 5 nights to meet our family who live in Penrith we had many wonderful breakfasts a few pints and a wonderful dinner. Everything was spot on! Meghan and Thomas along with John work tirelessly to ensure a fantastic stay and we truly appreciate their smiles and openess to share stories, they are ACES in the hospitality industry. “Lovely hotel with attentive and friendly staff, a very comfortable room and excellent breakfast food (freshly cooked with a choice of hot options); evening meal also excellent, well worth the price. No road noise, plenty of parking. Be sure to say if you need a mobility friendly room. Nice cafes, pubs, shops in nearby Kirkby Stephen. ”

“We traveled two weeks in Scotland and Appleby Castle had by far the most delicious dinner. Staff was small but worked hard and swift. Castle was cozy and true to its heritage. ”

“Given that they were in the middle of renervations the pub was not open only the room was available but nice and clean once renervations complete will be an ideal place to stay ”

“The pub is situated in peaceful countryside and is in a great location. The proprietors were so welcoming and kind, helping me to my room with my luggage. My room was comfortable, nicely decorated and the bathroom clean with nice toiletries. The food in the pub was good, and the service was friendly and efficient. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would certainly stay there again if I’m in the area.”

“Amazing host. Sue couldn't do enough for us. Lovely hotel, great breakfast (lots of choices & delicious food), comfy bed, very well located.”

“Comfortable and good food with quick service. Plenty of sockets in the room, in useful places, which is great when travelling for business and having work to do. There wasn't a desk as it was a small single room, but there was a socket, with USB charger on the wall by the bed and a cushion to use, so working sitting on the bed was comfortable and convenient.”
