The Space:

Shoreline Secrets on Oneroa is a character-filled two-bedroom retreat immersed in native bush above secluded Hekerua Bay. Its standout feature is its connection to nature: tūī call from the surrounding trees, a penguin colony lives on the beach below, and the Te Ara Hura coastal track leads from the shoreline to neighbouring bays and beaches.



Steps from the property provide direct access to the beach. The large north-northeast-facing deck has a leafy coastal outlook with filtered glimpses of the water through the trees. It is set up for outdoor living, with a barbecue, large dining table, plenty of seating and two daybeds.



Inside, the open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen form the centre of the home. Two sets of doors connect the lounge directly with the deck, creating an easy flow between indoors and out. The lounge includes a Smart TV, three-seater sofa, armchair and two additional chairs.



A wood fire sits at the centre of the living area for cooler stays, with firewood supplied.



The kitchen includes an electric cooktop, oven, microwave, double fridge-freezer, dishwasher, air fryer, toaster, coffee grinder and coffee plunger, along with plenty of plates and glassware. The indoor dining table sits beside the kitchen.

The main-level bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe. The fully renovated bathroom on this level includes a shower, vanity and toilet.



Upstairs, the open loft bedroom has a king bed and its own reading lounge, with a collection of books and an outlook across the surrounding treetops towards Hekerua Bay. The loft is open to the living level below rather than enclosed behind a door. Its staircase has no handrail for the bottom 5 stairs.



Morning often begins with tūī in the trees, while evenings centre on the deck or beside the fire.

Guest Access:

Guests have use of the house, deck, barbecue and outdoor areas, including the steps leading directly down to Hekerua Bay.



The Te Ara Hura coastal walking track can be joined from the beach below the property.



From the arrival area at the top of the property, the front door is reached by approximately 55 wooden steps. A handrail runs alongside the entire entry staircase.



The Neighborhood:

Shoreline Secrets on Oneroa sits in a quiet, nature-filled pocket of Oneroa above Hekerua Bay. The bay can only be reached on foot or by boat, making it noticeably quieter than Waiheke’s larger beaches.



The Te Ara Hura coastal walking track passes the beach below the property. Guests can follow the coastline to neighbouring bays and beaches, making the house a great base for exploring Waiheke on foot.



The surrounding trees are home to abundant native birdlife, particularly tūī, which can frequently be seen and heard around the property. A penguin colony lives on the beach below, adding to the area’s connection with native wildlife.



Oneroa’s cafés, restaurants, galleries and shops are within easy reach by car. Waiheke’s other beaches, vineyards and dining destinations can also be explored from the property.



Getting Around:

Regular buses run across the island and connect Palm Beach to Oneroa Village and the passenger ferry. Taxis and rideshare services are available but can be limited at peak times, so pre-booking is recommended.

Access to the house requires walking down approximately 55 outdoor steps. A handrail runs alongside the entire entry staircase.



Airfryer and Plunger Coffee Machine



The loft is reached by a short but steep internal staircase with steps that sit higher than standard and no handrail. The loft bedroom is open to the living level below and does not have a bedroom door.



There are additional outdoor stairs between the house and the shoreline.



Because of the number and steepness of the stairs, including the loft stairs without a handrail, the property is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Families travelling with young children should consider the layout carefully before booking.

The driveway is suitable for standard cars. However, two-wheel-drive vans may have difficulty travelling both up and down the driveway, so guests arriving in a van should use a four-wheel-drive van.



The property is not dog-friendly. A penguins lives in the area below, so dogs are not permitted in order to protect the local wildlife.



Coffee Plunger. A/C and a wood burning fireplace in the Kitchen and living room with portable fans available in the bedrooms.

Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with after-hours assistance available for urgent matters.
