I went to the Royal Sonesta during a difficult time, a funeral so it wasn’t a vacation. My first impressions weren’t good because the hotel receptionist wasn’t friendly or helpful. Hotel staff should be friendly at the bare minimum. I liked the restaurant, pool amenities although I didn’t use the pool. Everytime my son tried to go to the pool, there was someone there, the pool and hotbed are tiny so we left both times.
I was disappointed with my harbor view which was mostly of the street because we were booked on a low floor. The hotel wasn’t full, but they probably give the bad view rooms to Expedia customers. I liked how close the hotel was to the Inner Harbor. It was a sad occasion but my young son and I made the most of the trip. The neighborhood gets sketchy a few blocks away from the Inner Harbor, I don’t recommend walking alone at night there. I would return again, won’t pay full price for a bad view again through. I liked the bay window it was cozy, I just wanted a higher view of the harbor (not of the wide, highway-like street). The room itself was comfortable, bathroom clean. The cost was a bit high in my opinion for what was received.
