Home Base for 6 guests at the top of Golden Gate State Park

The Golden Gate Getaway is a fun 4 bedroom, 2 bath home located in the gorgeous Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Gilpin County, Colorado. Nestled in the foothills to the Rocky Mountains, this area is bursting with fresh air and sunshine! The elevation is 8537', so you might feel the altitude a bit. Stay hydrated and don't drink as much alcohol as you're used to. (You're welcome!). The forests are a mix of conifer and Aspen trees, making later September and early October a dazzling array of Autumn's brilliant yellows and greens. We even get some orange up here sometimes. Winters are all about the snow, and either playing in it, or staying cozy in the midst of it all! This home does have a wood stove in the living room that can keep the chill out :) Go skiing, riding or XC at nearby Eldora Mountain Ski Area!

Springtime in the Rockies is all about wildflowers and big snow storms that bury your car but only stick around a couple weeks at best. What an awesome time to be alive and living large in the Colorado mountains.

The Getaway is a 4 bedroom/2 bath home with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground level, and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper level. There are lots of beds to choose from, but the max capacity for the whole house is 6 adults. A tiny person here or there is fine, but 6 guests is best for the septic system of this home. Thank you.

You will travel some amazing mountain roads to get to this wonderful Getaway. Golden Gate Canyon Rd leads you back down to Golden (30 minutes) or quickly west to the Peak to Peak Highway, a road that's as cool to drive as it sounds! To the north you have the tiny town of Rollinsville and the medium town of Nederland, both worth a closer look! To the south you have Central City/Black Hawk for casinos and history. Interstate 70 is right there, too, for even bigger mountains to the west, or Denver to the east. Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison can be accessed this way in 40 minutes (in good traffic).

As you enter this home in the mud room, you will pass by a full size washer and dryer unit. Feel free to freshen your towels, or wash your clothes before traveling again. From here you will enter a modern kitchen with honeycomb backsplash and updated appliances. You will find everything you need for a comfortable stay. The dining area connects the spacious kitchen with the long living room. A big screen TV is available with seating and a comfy couch. The wood stove in the corner is a neat conversation piece, and it also works if you would like to grab some firewood at the local convenient store. Perfect for chilly Winter nights. From the living room, there is a closed entry room to prevent drafts coming in when you go out to turn the kebabs on the propane grill. Or, if it's nice outside, please enjoy dining for 6 on the lovely, spacious back patio. There is also a covered front porch with lounging for 4, and additional outdoor seating near the entry door. Lots of nooks and spaces for bonding with your favorite people.

Upstairs you will find more varied bed choices in 2 more bedrooms, plus a really nice full bathroom with a double soaking tub and a large shower. There are closets available in the bedrooms.
