“Bedrooms and bathrooms are a bit tired and in need of decoration but on the whole it didn’t spoil our stay, beds were clean and comfortable. Plenty of selection at breakfast. Would stay again.”

“The staff were lovely, breakfast was excellent, the restaurant didn't open till 6pm, so as we were going out we ordered bar food, which was ok, tasty but nothing special, convenient for us though.again the staff were lovely, We asked to change rooms because of a small problem,it was done without any fuss. It is slowly being renovated and just had lovely New windows in the lounge, some of the rooms need updating and the secret balcony could do with abit of TLC,, but it's a beautiful old building,...

“Toilet seat was hanging off. Had to wait to get checked in, sea gulls kept us awake all night. Not an aera I recommend.”

“We stayed over for the concert at the open air. The hotel was clean and well maintained- all the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was clean. The bar was lovely and the restaurant and breakfast was perfect. The en-suite was very small but clean. The only thing that would have meant full star rating would have been a better parking arrangement, - a quality mattress and blackout curtains. That being said we would definitely stay here again.”

“What a traveler needs more than anything is a clean accommodations, good shower, a super bed and a solid location.Loved all 4. A short walk to anywhere and BTW, the 199 steps to the top of the town were no big deal. Whitby is awesome!”

No view whatsoever No towels supplied on a &200 a night cabin ? Paid for four nights I left after one night ?? There is a shop but it shuts at 18-00 ?? They think this place is up market ? “We love staying at this hotel. The staff are really helpful nothing is too much trouble. The hotel also has some really thoughtful touches like providing rain ponchos for guests heading to shows at the outdoor open air theatre. When we came back from the show we were abit cold so we loved that we could grab a complimentary hot chocolate from the lounge. They are also showing the World Cup at the hotel Cinema. Touches like this make it a really special place to stay. Can’t wait to visit again!”

“We had no running hot water other than the electric shower. No wardrobe just hangers on hooks. TV was the size of an iPad. Bottom bed sheet too small and forever coming off. Needs to be clearer when it states breakfast included but it is only cereal. Outside seating area not suitable as soiled with seagulls droppings”

“I was very disappointed with my stay at Green Gables Hotel. The building is extremely tired and in desperate need of renovation. The communal areas felt neglected, with stained carpets, dated décor, and an unpleasant musty smell that gave a poor first impression. The room was very basic and didn't match the expectations set by the photos online. Cleanliness was below the standard I expected, and several facilities either weren't available or weren't working properly. Overall, the hotel felt...

“Upstairs balcony was booked out Shame cos that was the hook to get us there But was ok in the end”

“For the cost of the room I expected more modern decor and room facilities. Very basic bath/shower combo, basic tea making facilities and dated decor/room furniture. The view from the room was fantastic but the view alone shouldn’t warrant such high prices.”

“The only problem was the shower hose had a rip and had gaffer tape on top but still leaked water everywhere and we had to take shower head off and use the ripped hose to have a clean while holding it”
