“The outside hot pool and bar great...indoor pool chilly...jacuzzy great....treatment rooms rather stark and chilly....my room was ok...the hotel generally is good...but would benefit from more cleaning of door frames and paints...starting to be on the verge of looking tired....”

“Our stay was very average for such a grand hotel. The room felt like we were stopping in the servants quarters rather than a nice hotel. It was small and basic but clean and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good. Parking here can be difficult if you turn up in the evening and there is a charge. Great location for all that Buxton has to offer and very convenient for the many restaurants and bars.”

“Disappointing stay. Receptionist had no smile at check in but different girl on departure was friendly. Room had evidence of past water damage in ceiling and wall. I know how old the building is but not a note explaining repair steps. Bathroom under sink was grim and marks on back bathroom door. But main complaint is breakfast advertised as 7am in room and by girl upon check in. It was actually 7.55am. At 7 am no sign of it, staff told us to wait in lounge, they would update us in 10...

“The hotel rooms were very dated and the walls are so thin we heard every little noise from other doors banging, people walking around above us and up and down the corridor. We asked to move rooms after the first night and the staff were accommodating to this. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the Spa is so beautiful. There is an extra charge for the spa if you don’t have a spa day included in package but well worth the money.”

“Room was clean full of feature like iron, ironing board, kettle and tea, sugar and sweetner. Air conditioning...super. Staff was very polite and helpfull and breakfast was excellent. Everything for every taste. Definitely worth every penny. Super”

“Lovely location for walking the Peak District. Also ideal as a stop over if heading further, especially if you have an electric car as they have a charger for a reasonable fee. Nice touch is the packed lunch included in the room rate every day.”

“Awful. Had homeless on the entry steps. Police in reception dealing with something. Delapidated. And needs money to at least fix cracks in wall and paint it. Needs a good clean the stairs had years of dust on them. Looks like a hotel that the owners have just forgotten about.”
