“We stayed for 3 nights at the White Swan. We booked at 2 days notice, and got the last room available, so I wasn’t surprised that it was quite a smallish room, but very very clean and comfortable. Breakfast - the Northumbrian - was magnificent, setting us up for a full days walking with no room or need for lunch. Then in the evening, it was a village pub, with village pub prices, friendly staff and locals happy to talk, and really great food, again at very reasonably prices. We really enjoyed...

The hotel is in need of some modernisation but we know that Joanne and the team are working on this, given a little time they will get everything right but in the meantime it is still a good place to stay and excellent value.”
