Welcome to the Musical Mountain House! This vacation home is the perfect stay for exploring Virginia wine country, trips to Shenandoah National Park or a just weekend getaway relaxing in the mountainside hot tub or sitting by the fire pit. It is easily accessible to the Appalachian Trails, Shenandoah river, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Skyline Caverns, wineries, and downtown Front Royal. This adorable vacation home is great for large groups or two families and only 1hr 20m from DC.


The Musical Mountain House is one of those properties that has something for everyone and all the right juxtapositions. Mountainside quiet where you can't hear a single highway but still with speedy wifi and grocery delivery. Vintage speakers but they hook up to your smart phone.. Room for everyone to eat together but two living rooms for two movies at a time. Impeccable and professionally designed interiors but with actually comfy couches. Outdoor space to run around as free as the neighbor's chickens but fenced in decks and yards to contain furry friends and/or toddlers. And then there's the h's: hot tub, hammock, history, hiking, hwineries.

Great stay. House is well appointed. Every room well thought out and comfortable. The large bath and shower were luxurious. Nice spacious deck and great fenced backyard which our puppy loved. Ben was very responsive and helpful, flexible with check in and checkout. Highly recommend.

Very well decorated. The biggest hit was the basement where the bunk beds were located. The children loved it. If we didn’t have children there, I probably would’ve hung out down there majority of the stay.

Impressed by the thoughtfulness of the amenities.There was everything we needed. Not 1 trash bag, an entire box. Not 1 dish tab, an entire package. Shampoo/body wash in every bathroom. Fire wood under the deck. Salt & pepper in the pantry. Paper towels, ice in the freezer, ect. Ect. Best part, the linens! Clean, fresh, modern sheets/blankets. Everything was perfect and made for a peaceful stay while visiting family in the area. THANK YOU!

Nice cozy house in mountains.

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy mountain house with my wife and our two kids. Deer with their fawns often came close to the house, which was such a magical sight. A beautiful tree was blooming right in front of the terrace, adding to the charm of the place. The location is perfect — just a short drive to the park, wineries, river rafting, and other attractions. Highly recommended for a peaceful family gateway.

A Relaxing Stay in a Gorgeous Area

We had an incredible time at this property and would absolutely stay here again.The house was as advertised in pictures and the post. Lots of room for different groups of people to hang out, play games, stream videos, etc. The hot tub was also very nice!There was one big thing that wasn't advertised, but we adored — the huge Mimosa Tree that was blooming on the property. The flowers and how the sun hit that tree were incredible, making an already amazing stay even better.

Perfect family home!

We loved our stay at the Musical Mountain House! Plenty of space for two families and we were not too far from Shenandoah National Park! We also appreciated all the little extras throughout the house such as shampoo and body wash in the showers and plenty of the kitchen condiments that are a pain to pack! Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay! We traveled with family ranging from ages 11 and everyone had plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. Beds were comfy. Lots of entertainment for the kids (games, books, tv, etc) Beautiful location. Close to where we needed to be to visit family. Check in was easy. Communication with host was great. Thanks for a great stay!

Family Wedding Trip 2025

Our family traveled from both Southern Illinois and Maine to come together to attend a family wedding in Middleburg, VA. The Musical Mountain House was just perfect for our stay. It was clean, beautifully decorated, and the beds were so comfortable! The bunk room couldn’t have been anymore perfect for my grandkids. The hot tub was such a nice addition too! The house is located just where we needed…close to the wedding venue, and also close enough for some sight seeing in Shanendoah State Park and a couple days visiting DC. We always had enough hot water for all nine of us to shower, and the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities to eat in if you like. We would highly recommend a stay at the Musical Mountain House if you’re are planning a trip to the Linden, VA area!!

Great mountain getaway

We had to be in the area for a retirement party on our anniversary weekend, so we combined the two and found this great place. The house is very well appointed, and has quality items for guest use just as you would have at home. We did not need for anything. We used the hot tub a lot, which is really saying something about cleanliness. I'm picky. We were even able to to get delivery from The Apple House(donuts are a do not miss). We found a great little Italian restaurant, Girasole to celebrate in a quaint town called The Plains. There are amazing views of mountains and the Shenandoah river around every corner.

Visit go the shenandoah valley

We stayed in Ben's mountain home for four nights in april. The home was very welcoming and there was plenty of space to sleep and relax. It is is located close to the shenandoah national park and some wonderful wineries, making it conveniently located for both adventure and relaxation.

Awesome house!

This house is beautiful in pictures, but even better in person. Great for a large family with children. We loved our stay here…we had everything we needed. The decorations and furniture are so nice. Thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful and comfortable mountain home!

We had a lovely weekend snowed in at this beautiful mountain home. With help from the hosts and kind neighbors, we were able to get home safely after a big snow storm, and def recommend 4 wheel drive for those going in winter! Will definitely return!
