However, there was a problem with the shower having no facilities for putting in shampoo, soap, etc., and only one cake of soap was provided for a two-night stay. Also, we booked and paid for a deluxe, downstairs room, but were upstairs, which made it very difficult for my wife, who has mobility problems. The stairwell closest to the restaurant did not have a working light, which was a problem once the night arrived”

“The Empire Hotel Queenstown oozes character and charm. Our room was simple but clean with lovely linen and the beds were very comfortable. Our check in at the front bar was easy and the staff were very friendly. Pub food was nicely done and it was a fantastic location straight across the road from the Wilderness Railway station in Queenstown. Lovely old town with friendly locals.”
