Bed bugs! Luckily it was only in one bedroom and the property manager was extremely responsive. We were given two choices: 1. Leave (with no where to go) or 2. Stay out of the house for most of the day while the room was treated. Since we had just driven 12 hours to get there and we had only been there 24 hours and had planned to be there a week we really didn’t want to leave the cape.(They were offering a full refund if we chose this option. We looked around and everything was booked, there was no where to stay…additionally we were not allowed to stay in any other VRBO property because we were “exposed.” We wound up choosing option 2. We rented a boat for the day and stayed out while the room was treated. Despite it being treated we never used that room the remainder of the trip, two of the kids (fully grown teenagers) lost their room and had to sleep on the couch the rest of the trip (not the worst thing but we were expecting everyone to have their own bed. We did get a partial refund and like I said the property manager was very responsive and kind. We love the cape and still had an amazing time. Would I stay at this house again? No. The pictures of the beach in front of the house are deceiving. I’m not sure when those where taken but there isn’t a lot of beach left in front of the home, and the strip of beach that is there isn’t usable, unless you don’t want to get in the water. There are multiple fallen trees that make it impossible to safely get in the water.

Awesome

We’ve stayed on the cape since the 80s, and this is always my favorite property to stay at. The kids had a blast. This was my son’s first time in the dome home.

Amazing views but a falling apart house

Starting off with the good. 1. Amazing views right on the beach with a private boardwalk and close to stores to pick up things 2. They provide no toiletries 3. No dish washer detergent 4. We didn’t get any extra towels or blankets 5. Every single bed had sand in them. 6. The washer was trashed and had a repair guy to come out to confirm that it needed be replaced. 7. We had roaches 8. This place needs some serious repairs and is out outdated. The pillars look like they are on their last legs. 9. the grill only works on one side and looks like it has never been cleaned 10. The place didn’t even have a broom to sweep up the sand that will be tracked into the house. If it went for the view and location I would have requested another place. I seriously doubt that the cleaner changed the bedding. We really wanted to like it but I would skip this one.

Unique!!

The dome home was absolutely fun! Surprisingling spacious once inside with plenty of room for a large family! The deck was the perfect place for star gazing at night and you just can’t beat the location!

Dome Dome on the Range

The Dome home was great! Very unique architecture. You are right on the water so going back and forth from the house to the water was easy. Cape San Blas as a whole is great too. Very quiet area. Fishing from the beach was also great. Will be happy to rent again if an opportunity presents itself.

55th Birthday Celebration

My husband booked this property for my 55th birthday birthday week. We usually spend my birthday week in Port St Joe, which we love. However this year he surprised me with the booking of the "Dome Home". Let me say that this location is absolutely amazing. The inside is huge and the woodwork is beautiful. We loved the beachfront view along with the private location, due to an empty rental on one side and an empty lot on the other side. We can't wait to come back next year !!

Fun place directly on the beach

Pros: This was a fun and unique rental. Our family had a great time on the beach. It was especially convenient and enjoyable to be located directly on the water. It was also nice to have an outdoor rinse station and shower halfway up the stairs to the home to hose the kids off. The outdoor wraparound deck is beautiful. We had to call customer service one time and they were very responsive and solved our issue right away. The beach itself is first-rate, and near to St. Joseph State Park and the lighthouse, and also to Apalachicola for shopping and good food. Cons: Due to the increasing erosion, there is much less beach than pictured (the water is much closer to the home.). The home itself is in need of many repairs and updating, especially for the price per night. There are loose tiles, non- or barely working doorknobs, very old kitchenware, super dull knives, broken drawers, dated and barely functional lighting, the outdoor sink is not hooked up or usable, and although there are beach and water toys available, most are broken. Summary: overall it's a great place to stay, but bring your own kitchen stuff and outdoor toys.

Delightful Dome on the Beach

Overall an amazing experience staying in the dome home. Spacious deck! Large rooms inside & the multi story living area was very cool. It had interesting sound effects :)) We also experienced the swaying other reviewers mentioned which was pretty cool once we realized what was happening. Kitchen was adequately stocked. We hope to return for another visit!

Cool House Crap Property Management by Vacasa

We checked the box of staying in the eclectic Dome Home but not without some problems. First the place wasn't cleaned very well, and if I could upload some photos I would. I think the attention to detail cleaning this place was the least of the cleaning team's worries. There was a sign to not move the furniture, and one of the reasons I know they didn't want it moved because there was a tremendous amount of dirt, sand, dust, chips, and whatever else under the couches and chairs. It was laughable. The air return was so packed full of dust it was noticeable from across the room. There were clumps of hair in the beds. Blinds fell from the windows downstairs. The bathroom soap dispensers had a little bit of soap in them that the cleaning crew filled with water. The soap dispensers I can say is nit picky, but if they're going to be left there they should be filled with soap not water. It's truly a shame the lack of care the management company showed in this property, because it is a cool place. Dated, but cool. ***We reported all this to Vacasa with the lame reply of we're really sorry for the issues in the home, our local staff has been notified and someone will reach out to you soon. NO ONE REACHED OUT. After realizing how poor of a job was done on cleaning it got me looking at things a little harder so I tested the smoke detectors and found every smoke detector NOT working and 11 years old. Not a one upstairs or downstairs. ***We reported this to Vacasa with again the lame reply of we're really sorry for the issues in the home, our local staff has been notified and someone will reach out to you soon. And again NO ONE REACHED OUT. We waited on a call and after no contact from Vacasa I went out and bought a smoke detector for the second story where the two little four year old girls were staying. This was a safety issue and a code violation, not too mention my daughter and her friend were staying upstairs. All in all I found out Vacasa is great at communication but terrible at addressing the concerns/problems. They tell you what you want to hear initially, but do not follow up. Vacasa did not care about us as customers, and the only thing I'd say they care about is flipping houses to make profits. House 3 Stars Vacasa 1 Star Cue the lame response from Vacasa..............

Great! No wifi!

Not super ideal for toddlers as there is lots of wires and cabinets they could get to. Otherwise a great location for a family stay. Lots of bedding and great kitchen appliances. The wifi would not stay on and was out 3 of the 4 days we stayed. Make sure you bring a wifi Hotspot if you wish to have access to a network at all.

It’s checked off the bucket list…..

The location is perfect! We love Cape San Blas and have been coming for several years. We were excited to experience the Dome Home finally! The home itself is super fun and unique, but the housekeeping is not impressive. The kitchen drawers and under when the recliner was up on the sofa, you can tell that hasn’t been cleaned in a very, very long time. All of the beds and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. That may be a preference for some, but not for anyone in our party of 7. Communication for trash pickup needs to be stated, but the employees were very kind and polite. Overall, unless a deep clean and new beds come in, I wouldn’t come back. If that is updated, most definitely we would return.

Great for 8

Surprisingly spacious for eight people. Spiral staircase to upstairs is fun for younger family members but the grandparents were very glad they didn’t have to use it and could stay downstairs. So nice to have three full bathrooms. Plenty of hot water. Washer and dryer worked great, large capacity. Air conditioning worked very well. A bit dated and worn, but was clean except for the interior of many of the lower kitchen cupboards. Nice quality plates, bowls, glassware, mugs and flatware for 8. Very comfortable living room furniture, but upstairs queen mattress seemed to have structural failure on one side. Beach and location are amazing, felt very private and quiet, not at all crowded. Each day from the deck we saw dolphins swimming and beautiful sunsets. Loved our stay in the dome!

A really unique place on a beautiful beach. Its a one of a kind!

This property sits right on the beach so its a matter of steps to the water. The best thing about the place is the open area that includes a large kitchen, dining, and living room. Large counter with stools. Great for congregating and entertaining

Great Location - Updates Needed

Overall great stay with friends and family. The house moving from the wind took some getting used to. Upstairs shower was clogged we had a rain leak the last night and the fron door elock needs perfect alignment to work properly. All in all a good stay. Management replied quick and the location on the beach was very good.
