“The accommodation we stayed in were converted stables. The rooms were well appointed, recently decorated and warm (we stayed in winter). The accommodation is annexed to the hotel. The hotel is the epitome of a country pub with traditional pub fair, eight ball and friendly locals in their seats at the bar. Not a refined experience but everything we were after, we were comfortable, fed well and welcomed.”

“I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was not expecting much but the room was a really good size with a dining table and 2 seater couch. I loved the unusual angular shape of the ceiling and the “window to the sky” was a cool idea. The bed was very comfortable and location was great, in the main st Richmond. We had the private ensuite room and it was up a few stairs so I was glad we did not have too much luggage! The attached bistro had good meals and was a popular spot. ”

“Quirky, friendly historical venue. Everything worked well and although the building is tired, the owners and surroundings made up for it. We booked in for dinner and were provided with a warming, substantial home cooked meal and a Charming hostess. Good selection of wines. Lots of accommodation types available. Close to Richmond (walk or drive) and easy access to other areas. Beautiful scenery and lots of animals that any children would love. ”

“Lots of positives: Nice and clean. Had a high chair and portacot. Everything we needed. Only two negatives - 1. Needing to strip the beds was a step too far in cleaning up after yourself. We have three small children so it is already hard to clean up and pack up on departure day. 2. 4pm check in is not reasonable. Too late. ”

“This was my second separate night saying at the Junction and I chose to return as hands down it was the most comfortable bed of my journey. The price was very reasonable, the location is great and convenient for accessing Hobart, Mount Field NP and other sights and experiences in the regiion. The decor of this motel is certainly an experience of its own - quirky, eccentric, asian fusion meets retro, with a bit of childlike creative artistry and a large sprinkle of glitter for garnish!”

“My parents were the managers in the 70s (I was 3-6 years of age). It was the Sandy Bay Motel back then. So wonderful to recognise the buildings and remember some of the fun times when I was little. We had several "famous" people stay with us. My fondest memory was meeting Acker Bilk who gave me a ukele. As a 4 year old I was tickled pink! I will definitely be back soon and thank you for so much for the trip down memory lane. 😊”

“We mainly went to the bistro for dinner and breakfast for the 2 nights we were there plenty to choose from and the king deluxe room was great the bed itself was very comfortable and you have a choice of pillows you just call housekeeping and they’ll bring up a different pillow type Will definitely be back one day”

“It’s our first visit to Tasmania. The staff that checked us in was very professional and accomodating. We arrived early but room wasn’t ready. We didn’t realise that we had booked the outside property- Motor Inn. He gave us option to upgrade our room to be inside the Casino and a room was available. Thank you kind Sir at the front desk. We truly enjoyed our visit to Hobart. So convenient to everything. Only downside is knky one mict is working. We will recommend and stay here again. ”
